Question I'd ask is what kind of output do they have at idle and low RPMs?

I bought one, its right at 12.5 volts at idle but immediately goes to 14 when I touch the throttle. But it is making a lot of noise now. Only have had it on for a few months.

If you use a pulley the same size as the stock pulley and the stock belt, then there will be no need to modify the stock bracket. Grind, mount, wire, done.

See that part where you said "grind"? That means it isnt a direct swap. It needs modification. "Mount, wire, done", however, means no modifications.

I am on my 2nd 140A alternator... buy the warranty'd ones and KEEP THE PAPERWORK. My first one lasted 4 months.

^ I never claimed that it was a direct swap. I will claim that it is one of the best alternator options for our cars, and probably far more superior to the high amperage eBay alternators.

If you don't want an FD or Taurus alternator, but you want an alternator with higher amperage and is a direct swap... Then why haven't you purchased the eBay alternator yet? It's a direct swap. What other "direct swap" alternatives do you have in mind??

if someone local can rewire it , pay them to do it, should cost no more than 200

buying on eBay is always a gamble, some of the eBay sellers allow u to send ur core over, they will rebuild with ur core and send it back to u, this way at least u know u are not getting some crappy cores in the first place
