eBay CPU

I have been pondering the idea of fixing my CPU since the alarm, ignition light/buzzer, etc. haven't been working.

I have a 90' Turbo II, and after searching, I came upon this link.
https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/different-types-fc-cpu-313456/

I just wanted to make sure that my car does have the FC01 CPU in it. It was originally purchased in Texas, so I don't think it has any weird California stuff in it (if they even have a different CPU for CA). I would just go outside and check it except I have been without my car for a few weeks, and I do have any time to go back home to look. I don't have anyone over there to check.

Anyways, I was looking through eBay and found this.

That price seems very low compared to the $116 that Mazdatrix wants for just that one board. The seller's feedback is very good, and has sold other FC parts.

It might just be less hassle by buying the CPU and putting it in my car. At the current price, it would entail a greater opportunity cost by fixing my current CPU.

Anybody with experience in buying CPUs off eBay? How well have they worked?

Thanks for your input.

The sellers Feedback rating on E bay is the only "reference" you have as to the integrity of the seller. If seller had history of rip offs it would be reflected on the feedback ratings. I paid $50 for one these at a wrecking yard a few years ago and it fixed my brake light problem. I would not pay over $50 on E bay as there are lots of sources for salvage rx7 parts. The Mazdatrix price isn't that bad as I think that part is around $350 or more and Mazdatrix is a great group of guys n gals and they have good warranty (review electrical parts warranty).
One thing, there is a chance that something else could be causing your problem, in which case the CPU would not help. Good Luck !

Yeah I was planning on not paying anything more than $50.

I know that there are a lot of factors that could be preventing the alarm from working, but perhaps only a few that could stop the key reminder buzzer/light from working. This is a bit of a stab in the dark, but if I am able to pull this off by only getting the CPU, that would be great. I've seen a lot of threads in which a new/fixed CPU fixes this problem. Maybe luck will be on my side either way if I fix it or buy the new one.

Thanks for the advice.
