Easiest way to replace Reverse light/ 5 gear switch?

as the tittle says,
Is the an easyer way without dropping the tranny (pain in the *** without hoist.)
I have a 30mm wrench and it will not work there is a rib for the tranny that gets in the way, I don't have a socket deep enough, not to mention the wires get in the way.
Is there an easyer way. I searched through the near 100 threads and none had an "efficient" way to do it.
I was wondeirng if there was... or do I have to drop the Transmission?
