Easiest way to cure the wiper problem

i only just bought my FC and have found it has the typical 'wipers don't work right' problem.

With me,my mist, intermittent and high speed don't work, just the low speed.

Approximately how much does a new switch cost and how hard is it to install? Or is it easier to just resolder the connections?

On a similar note,my blower motor only has Off and High speed functions. Same problem as above?

Talk to the member of this board under the user name "Icemark" he sells rebuilt ones and can get you one tha works. He is a stand up guy too and usually he take the parts you have and discoutns you some from the price, like a core charge.

If you can clean the contacts, you have a 50/50 chance to get them working again with very little money spent.

Last time I priced out a wiper switch cluster, I think it was at least $300.

Wow! These wiper switches are dropping like flies.

This has to be one of the top five part failures we see at this site.

Well Imansen used only 5 amp unsealed relays when they built those switches, so they really are only expected to make it for 10 years. The unsealed relays are a little cheaper, but more prone to building up corrosion internally (which leads to arcing on the contacts and eventually failure).

I use 8 amp sealed realys on my rebuilds (or I can sell you the same heavy duty relay(s) if you want to try and rebuild the switch yourself).

FYI: An S5 wiper switch, for cars having a rear wiper, lists at slightly over $600.
