i got mine from the junk yard, it's from a 1g mr2. pretty easy hook up and it works great no over heating good constant temp and no battery or alt problems either. and a good gain for n/a or turbo better throttle responce than all out hp but coupled with a few mods it's gonna be killer i'll let you know this weekend when i do my throtle body mod!

Whoa! R-or-D; you've been around long enough to know about old posts. You can find tons of info on this.

I run the perma-cool 16 incher with no problems; other than a few lost fingers, hehehe

Ya I know I have been long enough, lol. But I only hear good things really about the black magic fan. Not sure where to get it or what price is good though. Am also seeing if someone has found a better one for cheaper. Ya never know

Oh ya, I ordered my fluidyne radiator today. If it solves all my problems I will be getting gauges next and then who knows

The perma cool one is nuts- it's what I have. You have to rig up a shroud to increase effeciency, but that thiongs flows twice of any other fan I've seen... it'll practically pull your car if you want!!!

Cheap too... about 70 bucks US I think...maybe less, can't remember.

That's nice, and all, Bambam7, but did anyone bother to read my posts from a few weeks ago?

one word: Fiero

It flows just as much as (if not more than) the permacool, and it'll be $10-$30 from your local junkyard. With a $5 temp switch from a Miata and a $3 relay from Shady-o-Rack, you'll be set. Oh, and it comes with a shroud, too.

I'm glad you think thats nice..... makes my day.

Anyways, the perma-cool fans are from 14-18 inches, and flow from 2100-3000 CFM!!!

That's the more than ANY OEM electric fan from any passenger car, (including fiero) and pretty much the most from any aftermarket fan too. Just watch your fingers!!
Most electrics are around 900 CFM or so....
Go to summitauto.com, keyword perma-cool, you'll see them all.

So those perma-cools don't come with a shroud. What did you use to make one? Did you use the stock one or what? The one I want is like $70 less than the black magic one so if making a shroud is pretty difficult I would prolly be down for the black magic one. Thanks.

I'm sorry that I don't have any numbers for the Fiero fan, but my statement is based on a side-by-side comparison of the two. The perma cool fan felt like its flow had a (small) bit more velocity around the edges, but it had a much bigger dead spot in the center of the fan (the motor).

YMMV. IMO, you can't beat the Fiero fan. BDC used it to pull through a BIG radiator (Fluidyne?) and a large NPR IC, and saw a DROP in water temps, compared to a black magic fan and NO NPR IC in front. Granted, the black magic fan isn't the greatest, but adding a big IC and seeing a drop in temps? C'mon man, you just can't argue with that... Especially for the price.

Brandon

Edit: And r_o_d: It comes with a shroud that fits almost exactly over a stock-sized rad. Ahh!

Ok changed my mind. I like the 16" one instead of the 18" one. The 16" one flows more and is only $88 Hmm...what size is the stock fan do you know?
