e brake ??
I bought my first 88 na vert. The guy I bought it from disconected the e-brake "so someone wouldnt set it and it freeze" during the cold MI winter. He swears that it works fine though. The brake shop tells me that if it was disconnected its because it froze and would be a PITA to get unstuck. My question... Anyone ever have an issue with a stuck e brake? Will I be wishing I bever hooked it back up? All opinions welcomed.

yah my e-brake froze once because the guy at the brake shop forgot to reconnect it, this was years ago and I just noticed. I pulled it out, tried oiling it, tried everything to free it. finally gave up and went to a wrecking yard and got one on good shape for 5 bucks.

My problem was that the crumby Ebrake levers on my Rear calipers were rusted solid... so I bought new rear calipers!! the rest of my Ebrake setup is fine though. I even have a spare Ebrake hand lever sitting in my basement... don't remember if it has all of the plastic shroud. If you need one PM me with an offer and I'll see what i can do for shipping.

Mine are stuck, so I got another pair from a guy parting out a 7 and I got those and they were frozen too, not as bad as mine, but the release spring still wouldn't move it. Either keep searching for a used one, or you can break down and buy remanufactured calipers from Autozone and the like for about $180/pair, + core charge.
I can't make myself spend that much on brakes, but I might have to when I roll into some money.

Disconnected so it wouldn't freeze? That's fairly stupid. It would only stick if engaged for a long time and left to sit...Simple cure is to just not engage the e-brake and let the car sit for months at a time...
Anyway, raise the car and inspect the e-brake cables and such. Should be fairly easy to tell if you have an issue. I've replaced these cables before and it's not too hard...requires removal of the driveshaft though.
