Dyno pull netted 265rwhp...

This is my '89 T2. This was done a couple of months ago while I was in Japan. A buddy of mine did the driving as I obviously wasn't around. All I have on it is a Blitz SUS intake, full 3" exhaust, Walbro 255lph fuel pump, and a Profec B. He told me that it was boosting to 15# (as usual). The boost creep is uncontollable for the time being. This car has been living like this for a long time. I have everything on hand to replace whatever might break, but nothing is breaking yet. Go figure. Whatever was done to this car prior to my ownership, I'll never know. But I'm guessing it might have been chipped (can't tell by looking though) and it probably has 720cc secondaries. This isn't the smoothest curve, but it's not too shabby either.

Well, I don't think it was. A friend with a ported engine in his '89 T2 rode in my car and told me it that is felt like his did (powerband-wise) prior to being ported.

i don't know you've got something that's not adding up you shouldn't be pulling that kinda hp. I would guess like 215rwhp or so.

I figured it would have been about 230rwhp or so going by what I did so far. When I saw it I was quite surprised. There has to be some sort of chip in the ECU. I've look in there but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. It has to have at least 720cc secondaries, but I have not the time to pull them off and have them flow rated out of idle curiosity. If it works, it works. I dynoed it one year ago and it was running horribly rick woth only 187rwhp. Then I did the exhaust and fuel pump. It's been the same way since and has been running very well.

When I changed out the flywheel there was aCFDF in there. Not exactly the thing a non car guy would put in there. After that I've been skeptical of this car. I've had it for over 2.5 years and it's still running strong.

I would have guessed around there... people put down 225 at 11psi.

you are definatly running too lean though. that hump in the middle is not good. should be 11.7-12 or so the whole way.

wow, very nice on the stocker turbo/intercooler.

These kind of posts only strengthen my convinction to squeeze into the 12's on the stock turbo before I go hyrbid

that thing is close to *KABOOM!* in the mid range. Get the AFR down to ~12:1 throughout the whole range before you beat on it too much, or my guess is you'll be pulling an engine soon

The exhaust? RS*R 3" frontpipe. Magnaflow part# 12219 for a midpipe/presilencer. Corksport cat-back.

Yeah, I know it's a bit lean. But it's definitely not too lean. I've been running like this for about a year now. Many, many autocrosses and lapping days at a couple of local tracks later, it's still holding up. I'm not really worried about it. As far as I know, it's the stock ECU. Once I put a e-manage setup in there and go back to the dyno with known 720cc secondaries, Isuzu fmic, and BNR Supercars Stage2 hi-flo I'll work out the a/f ratio to be nice and level. Lots of parts but not much time to do it all. But for now it'll do. The is still strong after many thousands of miles, I'll keep trusting it for a bit more.

You folks don't really want to know what this thing has boosted to every now and then with the boost creep. The stock turbo has yet to start puking oil.

I dont know man, i hear TIIs improve GREATLY from exhaust. I think your power is in your massive boost, and your lean as hell mixture, but i guess if it is not detonating you are good to go. I wouldnt run it that lean for **** though.

was the engine rebuilt with higher compression rotors? Apparantly your turbo is still fresh. Mine couldn't keep up with my engine past 4k and the boost would drop down to 7 psi. I still pulled off 207 RWHP. and yeah my turbo was going limp. Good turbo i should have been about 215 easy. stock injectors, I/C, engine, and a stock ecu, and flywheel.

rotorific are you talking about 235rwhp? Damn im going to have to get this swap done soon. My car has a 2.5 inch exhaust pipes all the way back with no cat so that should help some right off the bat.

non-ported...

his car is definetly not ported......I drove it, powerband comes on quick on fast. Unlike my car.......do...ta....doo......there we go, 4.5k, now we have some power....!!!!

I can vouch for his car, its pretty darn quick, Im pushing 285rwhp (untuned, 9psi, stock top mount ) and his car is no slouch.....

Of course Ill be in the 350rwhp range in january once my front mount and tuning is done .....
