Are the dust shields between the 4 pot brakes and single pot brakes interchangeable?

Getting ready for my 5 lug/4 piston brake swap, but the dust shields on the spindles are completely torn up. Mine are in good shape, but they are of the 4 lug, single piston variety. Will they be too small to fit over the new 4 piston brake rotors?

When I swapped I didn't have to touch the dust shields.
This was a 91 NA, maybe other years/models are different.

i put the 86 dust shields off the 4 piston calipers onto the 87(when i did the swap), the rotors on the 4 pistons are about 1.1" bigger on the front. on all s4's anyways

You can use the smaller dust shields, i have done it, but they fit just barely.

You can probably get super cheap ones from somebody's parts car, just post a want to buy in the for sale section.

bend them back, sort of flatten them out..You may have to Split the Rolled up edge in order to do it...You should have Swapped the whole hub/Spindle assembly. That way the dust shield would not have been a factor.

I do have the whole assembly. But the dust shields on my 4-pot spindles are completely chewed up, so I was really wondering if I should replace them or not.
