OOOohhh, not an SI!!!! I hope its isnt the blue color, blue ads like 30 hp to the stock black or red si. So do the kanji stickers. I remember when i was almost beaten by an SI. I guess he was just lucky in getting a good launch..................and beating the tow truck off the line that was carrying my T2 back to my shop to fix a motor problem.

You also know that chrome adds 15+ HP to your car right? HAHA :P I think that Civic EX could smoke my car, since id have to push it across the finish line since the motor isn't running.

hondas can be just as quick as 7's. true the civic is an econobox, but when they turn out 13 sec 1/4 miles i think thats really sleeper. i have had both, and what i woudn't give for a 7 with that honda reliability, not to say that i would trade my 7 for a civic, just want the best of both worlds....

bling bling, i just dropped my 2 cents

Dude please, of course Hondas can run 13's and crap but look at all the money you would have to spend! The car itself would cost more than a TII (assuming it isn't a CRX or something) plus you woul spend thousands more to get a time that a cheaper car could get with ease on the stock turbo! I think most that Honda "reliability" would be pretty much gone with all the fuel, boost, and nitrous it would be using. Turbo Hondas are too frickin' common man, no offense.

I like your enthusiasm, but you really don't want to race for titles. I watched a Civic Si with " intake and exaust" blow the **** out of a ZO6 'vette, and a race preped '99 Trans Am. people with Civics will say just intake and exaust like this guy just to get you riled up to kick their *** and when you decide to race they blow you away, like this guy did with his Si. nobody ever found out what he was running, but he swore it was "intake and exaust only. I'm not saying you wont win, chances are you will, I'm just saying be carful not to be to zealous about it.

Charles

Civics

Yes but any car can be fast for a price. All it takes is money. Building a fast 7 wont cost as much green as a fast Civic.

Here's a quick question for you guys. An '86 RX-7 with no mods other than an exhaust and a motor from an '85 GSL-SE vs. a stock Civic SiR? Estimated hp of the rex, probably somwhere around 150 correct? What was the SiR? 168? Has anyone had a similar encounter?

it appears to me that many of you do not realize how easy it is to make some hondas pretty quick. I am sure you can find a nice 92 or so vx hatch for 1000 in decent interior/exterior condition even less if it has a blown engine b18c1(gsr motor), b16(si) tranny, neccesary ecu components - 4000. So far the total including the car is at most 5000 with drag radials I have seen this combo get 13's easy. Nice I/H/E and a lil giggly juice and you can see 12's all while virtually containing the original honda reliabilty and for maybe 6500 including the car. The only thing I don't like about most hondas is fwd, if honda made their cars rwd that would be sweet. Not trying to say hondas are the best far from it - look at my screen name and then notice the car I am driving now - just saying watch out who you race you are going to be surprised pretty soon

be careful. the bitch may have something up her sleeves. if you want to insure you win, run to the race shop and get a NOSzle and a 50 shot. cause that guy may have bore/resleeve and be running a 100 shot, in which case you will beat him off the line, but he will end up beating u. hondas suck ***. but they can put in 12's in street apparel.

If you know your stuff, you can build a 13 second Honda for under 4 grand...as long as you don't mind getting your hands dirty. Just take a CRX, strip it, and find yourself a B16A2 ($1500 with tranny) and start bolting. No, it's not easy, but I never said it was.

Oh yes Canadian RX7 there is no doubt about that but alls we are saying is that the Honda could be pretty darn quick. Sports cars are always cheaper to mod than econoboxes. Thats not what needs to be debated here. Its the speed of this certain Honda.

stripped CRX with B16? think H22, friend. I have a friend with one, and he has so much power in it that he had to get huge fender flairs and 10 inch wide front tires just so he could put his foot on the floor by third. its wierd, before his turbo spools, the car feels like a turd on wheels

but remember, its FWD, beat it off the launch.

I really h8 closed minded people! I could get a crx, for around 900-1500 with a bad engine, swap in the DOHC motor (ZC from japan) for 500, add a bottle of juice 75shot, and bam! Instant 13's...I knew of a girl that ran 13's on a stock motor! Albiet, it was the lightest honda, and made around 140hp with the other motor, and she used slicks. I'm not saying that they are the best in the world, either are t2's, im just saying they have ways of being just as fast, for just as cheap...Well close, becaue my T2 is fast as stink, and i only paid 2200! hehe

1. Not everyone can find an S5 TII for $500.
2. Ask him how much his mods cost.

Sinfestboy: I said B16 because I was giving a cheap example. An H22 would cost a bit more than a B16 and I think the installation is a little tougher, although I may be wrong about that. This was just an example of how to get a Honda into the 13s.

Here we go with the Honda versus Mazda debate again.

I see both sides of the debate.

I had a 91 CRX Si with about $500 in bolt on mods on it. I ran a best of 15.3 in the quarter mile. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that's fast or anything, but it would whoop the pants off my RX-7. Performance like that is pretty much even with a stock TII, and will beat most lightly modified N/A's.

Here's going out on a limb, but Honda's have a superior suspension design(double wishbone) than RX-7's do. If Honda made RWD cars(like a RWD CRX or something), I bet many of you guys would change your views pretty quick.

if a CRX was RWD it would weigh a lot more, and not be as stable... honda DOES make RWD cars, remember S2000? and despite its tinyness, it weighs in at over 2800lbs. but thats besie the point... so what if the civic USED TO HAVE double wishbone suspension (they dont anymore) it doesnt matter what your car HAS, it matters what your car DOES. theres no way a civic can hang with an rx7 through corners unless the driver sucks. i would expect people on an rx7 forum not to be so hung up on 1/4 mile performance.. a 15 second rx7 could beat a 13 second crx on a course with corners... and as far as cheap speed, try throwing a 350 in a chevette. (ok so its a little more complicated than 'throwing' it in, but you could have a really fast car for a few hundred dollars.

Why does some whiner always have to bring up handling in a drag racing thread? Yeah, we know our cars can handle...but some of us don't like to take 15 seconds to go a quarter mile from a stop.

this isnt a drag racing thread, if you read the title, its a civic bashing thread. im not saying a civic isn't a nice 'sporty' economy car, im quite sure it gets 3x the gas milage my car gets. but a honda civic or any FWD car for that manner is not suited for for any sort or racing.. straight line or with corners. when you accelerate in a straight line, weight shifts to the back.. bad for drag racing... when you turn at high speeds, the car understeers, which is bad. sure with really big racing slicks, or a lot of suspension work you can fix those problems... same with the "130hp stock" problem.. a new engine and a big turbo and you'll be set.... but whats the point?? just so you can say you drive a 13 second economy car? why not stick with a REAL sports car, one that was built with performance, not economy in mind.
