Duel alternator pulley

I have a duel alternator pulley already but I have not been able to remove the single pulley yet. Is there a certain way to do this?

I just did this last week. I ended up using a pipe wrench (best and easiest way in my opinion) to hold the pulley and then use a ratchet. You can also just jam a screwdriver through the holes in the alternator which will prevent it from spinning. There are implications that come with the latter approach though...

I just used a shirt to hold the pulley and impacted that screw off.
I agree, I kind of completely smashed one of the alternators by using the screw driver technique. If you don't have an impact gun, just ask people at Auto-zone or some odd to use it...

^ agreed. the impact makes it sooooooo easy, i just put my foot on the pulley and zip it right off. Im sure you can just go to anywhere that rents tools and use it in store for a minimal charge if any.

EDIT: I just saw that you have no transport so i suppose you will have to try the ghetto method, which is actually why i bought an impact. It tends to be a PITA. You could also try a leather belt to hold it...

just take the alt off and go to napa, they will pop off the nut in a couple seconds and put your new pulley on. It's free also. If you dont have a napa, I'm sure any parts store is capable of doing it.
