The question isn't "Is it possible", the question is, is it worth it? When you see all the seriously fast FD's running a single turbo instead of the twin turbo system, it makes you wonder....

Uhh my concern isn't really the cost but has it ever been done and if there is a link to anything to do with it just give it to me. i'm a poor college kid. i just want to get smarter so WHEN i'm rich i can have all sorts of goofy **** like a Twin Sequential Turbo 13-b :-) and a 3 rotor chevy lumina. that'd be a sleeper. :-)

been done, but rare. rare because its not really worth it from a performance aspect. more/same power can be made with one turbo and one turbo is a whole lot easier to put on.

Jeez you guys have no imagination! If it's not in a kit, it's not worth it right? BS...
There are definite advantages to twin turbos, most significantly the much quicker spool-up time compared to a single of similar capability. Plus since each turbo is much smaller, you can use production type turbos with internal wastegates to make everything simpler and cheaper. Compare the cost of an off-the-shelf aftermarket turbo that'll make 500hp (and it's matching external wastegate) to a couple of rebuilt second hand turbos capable of 250hp each (MR2 turbos leap to mind). Manifolds, oil and water lines and piping are all custom either way, so there's no reason why this should be any harder or more expensive than a big single.
Marlaman. sorry I can't help with pics or specific info, but do not be discouraged by naysayers who can't think outside the off-the-shelf square. If you're keen, do some research and check out some costs. This is definitely doable with a bit of creative engineering and planning.

Yeah i'm definetly going to have the most unizue EX-n/a around. i am going to win the powerball pretty soon so i'm trying to figure out some fun stuff to do with my money. and as a thanks when i win i'll but ya a t88 or somthing for giving some good input and not -it'll be too damn expensive! i'm sick of boo-hooers and put matt's idea down people. :-) so yeah in a week or 2 you'll have a nice new turbo weather you need it or not.

Here's a link to my twin turbo FC pics. It's got the FD REW engine in it. It's been running over a year now and I haven't had a single real problem with the sequential turbos. Actually my friends FD hasn't run right since he bought it 2 and a half years ago and mine's run perfect the whole time. I got all the people telling me how it's not worth it and blah blah blah about cost effectiveness and stuff. You gotta think about it though, how many N/A owners on this forum do you think can actually afford to do this conversion. If they could, they probably could have bought an FD and saved themselves the trouble. Aside from those select few, imagine all the people that can't afford it and daydream all day about 3 rotors and ask repetitive questions about how to do it on a $3,000 budget. At the same time the people who don't think it's worth it could back off a little bit. Some people (like me) aren't just having pipe dreams. Friendly suggestions are great, even if they are just saying that it's not worth it.

Awesome setup. the way i imagnine doing mine is totally from an old N/A engine that has a fresh rebuild. i won't be starting on this project until after the new year but i figure if i am halfway serious about it i better start researching it now.

Yeah this dream i'm considering making true. i know it's gonna be hella expensive but i make enough and stuill live with my parents so it's ok for me
-totally unrelated- isn't there a goonies quote about dreams or is it wishes??
But yeah i found a parts yeard up in duluth, mn and they might have enough junk laying around where i can start out very cheap. yeah it's a 3 hours drive but for a shitload of parts it'd be worth it

I think the biggest problem with these sorts of ideas is the cost issue. If you seriously go through the kind of money you will need to actually realise your dreams, a lot of people get discouraged with all the headaches that go along with it, and end up buying a car that already has all the power they need.
Let's face it, unless you have all the tools and all the knowledge and lots of time and money, it would be just simpler to buy an FD. Now if you're doing this because you LOVE the FC, then it's a worthwhile project.
A lot of people here get pissed off with people's half-baked dreams of having the fastest/coolest/baddest (you get the idea), and most of the time it's just that... a dream that will not be realised. People like NZConvertible are very knowledgeable about Rotaries, and are always happy to help out fellow Rotorites, but they don't like wasting their time giving information when it's not going to be used.
The bottom line is to have fun. If there is no fun, then there is just no point at all!
