dual exhaust to single
Hi,
I got dual 3" mufflers on right now and they are a little too loud.
The piping also seems to big for my n/a.
Would using just one muffler make it quieter?
I was thinking of just replacing the Y-pipe with a single pipe. Is there anyone selling those or do I have to custom make it?
thanks!

Single is louder than dual, think about it 1 muffler or 2, which will be louder?
3" is definately too big for an n/a, I think 2.5" is the biggest an n/a needs.
*EDIT*
Yes people sell singles. Corksport and FC3S.org make single catbacks.

Quite a few Eprod racers are using 3inch exhaust, probably a little loud for the street.
What brand mufflers do you have on your car now?
And as far as getting a custom single exhaust, there is no need, quite a few companies make single exhaust. I have an Apexi N1 single on my car, and I love it, great deep tone, and not to loud. You could check out Corksport also.
And if you want a good quality cheap cat back look at Borla.

Yes, using the same mufflers, 1 muffler will be louder than 2.

I had a Corksport on my old car and man that was loud!
I dont know what brand my mufflers are.
They came with the car and they are about the same as a Corksport noise wise.
Well I guess I'll just save up for the HKS duals.

Lots of mufflers look like those, it could be anything. Chances are if they are unbearably loud they are probably some knock-off brand like you find on ebay that looks the same. Are there any names or anything on the tips? Like BOMZ, Meagan, etc? There are tons of those on ebay and they look like corksport/n1 style and from what I've found/heard they are very loud. I should know, I have dual BOMZ mufflers

My neighbors don't like mine!
Cops around here dont seem to mind my RB header, no cat (test pipe) and dual BOMZ mufflers, though
Since that note was put on my car I put in a magnaflow 4" round straight through muffler in place of the test pipe, though, and it quieted it down a fair amount. Made my neighbors happier, and my parents

I'd think so... Racing beat seems better with dual than 1, but of course I've never actually seen this, just picturing it in my mind.

I think I'm addicted
i had to put a Silencer on my Apexi N1 single =(
i mean, having the turbo timer running for 30sec to 2 minutes at 2AM... is NOT a good thing with my neighbors......
now my car is so quiet =( (not really a BAD thing but i want it to sound more "evil")
