Dual exhaust louder than single exhaust?
Well, I'm planning to do a custom dual exhaust when I get my TII. I am going to purchase 2 mufflers and was wondering if it is going to be alot louder than a single muffler?

Yea, a single exaust will give you that nice deep throaty groan that I enjoy in my exaust. A large dual will give you the same effect however; not at idle. The dual will sound more ricey at idle and will collect more where the Y-pipe splits. Easier, simpler, less bending, and more flow with single exaust. And for the tip size 2.5 makes a nice looking car without a big exaust tip that is going to bottom out.
check the link here is what my duals sound like little quieter than my single at idle (not much) and just as noisy on the top end!

Ok, heres another ridiculus question. Say you have 2 88 TII 's and one has aftermarket dual exhaust w/ aftermarket intake and the other just has aftermarket single exhaust with no aftermarket intake. Who is going to be louder?
too many possible variations as far as i can see man, infinite number of setups. i've heard some people talking about experimentation with X-pipes, to see the dampering effect of the resonation, as well as possible HP loss vs. straight pipes
the way an x pipe work is it crashes the air (which carries the sound waves as well) into each other, and the sound cancels itself out, its an interesting concept that has way too mucfh behind it to understand, but thats simple terms and it seems to work in big v8's. also talk that it may help to equalize pressure between the two exhaust pipes? this will be interesting to see when someone actually tests it out

like the guy above me said it is simple 1 exhaust is louder than two. I have heard both and the single is louder but the dual to me sounds better. The single sounded like a popcorn machine in a way.
