Dual batteries

Anyone doing this in their FC? I know it's probably a stupid question but I was looking at an alternator on the Jegs website, and I figured I would ask if it's worth it with a one of those super micro alternators. I'm figuring not.

I figured as much. none of us are running battery killing compression or giant superchargers. well someone might be out there twin charged ...... hmmm I need to look into that.

Sounds like a very strange idea to me.

FWIW - Dual batteries (or more) is relatively common in car audio circles as well.

Need to run a wench?

No reason to run multiple batteries in an RX-7 unless it is some kind of crazy audio setup that is expected to run for hours with the car shut off. Compression and superchargers (almost no one runs a supercharger on an RX-7) have really nothing to do with it.

I could see it for use in a 24v starting system. But I think even the guys running really high compression don't need em. Diesels on the other hand are pretty common with 24v starting systems.

As said, this has nothing to do with car performance. If you need more power for auxiliary components, usually high power audio systems, then you typically need both a bigger alternator and a bigger battery, or 2+ batteries. The alternator is for sustained output, the batteries are for longer burst output or longer output while the car is off. The alternator on the RX-7 is already pushing minimum size, so I wouldn't go any smaller. No matter how many batteries you add on a small alternator setup, eventually the batteries will run out and the car will die.
