dual alt pulley not needed with efan?

A dual-belt alternator pulley allows you to contunue using two belts on the water pump pulley. As a bonus if one belt breaks you still have one working, so you don't end up stranded.

There are no disadvantages.
In my setup I have no airpump and I don't have a clutch fan anymore, so do I need the dual alt pulley?

here is the lastest pic of my setup

Yeah, its a good idea. The stock fan clutch causes almost no drag once you are moving so it really doesn't make much difference except at idle. You will still have a small contact patch and could have slippage at high rpms.

I just dumped 5k on my na rebuild and megasquirt, I love the sound of a na rotary.
So people think it's worth it to have the dual alt belt?
I should have made a poll -_-

What I was thinking of doing was running my airpump directly into my split air pipe(just to get my sticker). And then remove it so I don't destroy my cat and and I can just change belts over.

So what do people think is the best dual alt pulleys out there, Post links if possible.

The reason why people use the dual belt alt pulley is because the water pump will not have much belt on it when the air pump is removed. Normally there'd only be about 20 degrees of contact between the belt and the pulley. If people had actually looked at the pic they'd have seen that the alternator was relocated to the drivers side where the AC and PS usually go. In this case there's plenty of belt to pulley contact on the water pump, it's more like 100 degrees, way more than double.

!!!!A dual alt pulley isn't needed in your case!!!!

The answer to any question isn't just "Sell it and get a turbo" so stop posting that **** everywhere!

definitely a good idea but getting matched length belts is going to be a pita and also has to do with the machining of the pulley since most are machined poorly even matched belts do not always fit right.

you can also run a small loop belt around the main pulley to the water pump, kind of difficult to install and remove but is an alternative to a dual alt. pulley.

i still run the single belt with an e-fan and no accessories and don't have any belt slipping issues and i run approx 330RWHP at the drag strip so it can be done but safer is a good idea.

You don't need it with the relocated alternator like that.

Personally, I use a single belt + efan just fine. No slipping.
