dual alt pulley - good to have

Okay, i am driving now gold TII (stock, got it few weeks ago, fixed and driving it daily)

We put it together bit in rush and last few days, alternator belt was squeaking. Being busy, lazy and what not, i have not touched and today 10pm on the highway belt broke. Of course, car has no air pump or PS, alternator stopped and water pump as well.......took just about 30 seconds for water temp to climb up sky high.....We stopped car on side of road, warning lights on and after quick check to see what happen i called Martyn. He came in about hour, he got rotorshaped dual alternator pulley from me sometime in summer so he had SPARE belt for me ;o) Other 10 mins or so and one of his belts took place in my car and we both got off...

This is just useless post, besides note in which i want to suggest everybody get dual belt pulley - its not likely that your belt will break when u have 2 of them on, but u could always help friend on the road ;o)

I have dual pullys on both my S4 and S6 alternators. I wouldn't have it any other way.

If you buy one, get the "rotary stamped emblem" one. Looks real good. I think fc3s.org makes it, but could be wrong.

You'll need the dual alternator pully when you replace your belt driven air pump (emisssions) with an electric one. Keeps the alternator belt from slipping I believe.

I run my stock alt pulley without slipping problems for years without an airpump...my voltage at idle is always a bit low but I just attribute that to the UR crank pulley

Hey Silver, will the alternator/pully setup I got from you work with the rotor shaped pully from higgi? If not what mods need to be done?

It keeps the water pump pulley from slipping, not the alternator.

Damn hIGGI Is taking his sweet time with my polished Rotor Pulley.

I don't know as of yet. I proposed this merge with hIGGI and I sometime ago. I know that hIGGI has a FD Alternator that I sent him. Perhaps he made an attempt?

You still have not got one from IAN?

No, no progress with FD alt version yet, my CNC guy is lagged and i am not going to give him another work until current order is done. Hopefully soon...still wonder if its worth of effort, all you ppl here are just bitchin' for new products and i always end up with boxes of unsold parts in my room and empty wallet

Hey Higgi,

How much lighter is the dual pully over the stock steel pully?

ah man, now I have to go pull an alt apart and weigh one

But that 100 grams would equal 3.53 Oz
