Is installing these bushings possible for a home mechanic? or do I need a press?

you need a press to get the new ones in. The old ones may or may not come out by themselves.

I suppose it could be done, I took the entire hub assemblies to the local machine shop. They pressed out old bearings, dissasembled both hubs (there were stripped/broken bolots on both), and pressed in new bearings for ~$60. I figured this was more than fair considering what they had to do to remove the broken bolts//dissasemble.

They said the instructions I passed onto them (ones that came with the bushings) helped them install. apparently there is an incorrect way to install them...
