go to a harware store, buy some "rare eath' magnets. you only need one of the donut shaped one's. tie a string to it and drop it down into your engine. you may need to remove yout LIM to get access to the block if it made it that far.

if you pull off the LIM you can also make sure that your trans is in neutral and throw a socket and breaker bar on the front pully side of the eccentric shaftand slowly rotate the engine to get at the socket.

hope things work out for you,
TR

If you know it went all the way through, the easier route may just be to remove the turbo and manifold, since it will need to come off anyway to get the LIM off. Rotate the engine by hand until you see it in the larger, easier to get to exhaust port. Then pull it out. But like others said, the rotor may have blocked it and its still sitting in the runner. Good luck. Shouldnt be too hard to get, just requires removing manifolds.

Why in the hell did you even resurrect the thread to post that? To make the site run even slower?

Wow, a little bit up the creek.. If you have access to it you could use one of those wire cameras and see exactly were the socket is. If it fell into the combustion chamber then i would just take the LIM off and try and fish it out without the use of a magnet, i would be cautious of the magnet sticking itself to some of the internal parts... That or just make sure you fasten the magnet to whatever extender material you decide to use.

Good luck, keep us posted.

Haha! Wow, OK here's closure for you then. I resolved this a good 6 months ago. I ended up conning my insurance company into towing it about an hour away to a Mazda dealership where I know a guy. It took him all of 10 minutes with some sort of high powered electro-magnet to remove the damn thing. Then I put the car back together in the parking lot and drove her home.
The End.
By the way- who the hell has access to a "wire camera" anyway?!?
