Drivetrain swap. How hard will it be?
Ok my recently acquired '87 TII looks as if its going to need more work than I can handle. The body is straight but paint is faded badly and the front end has been hit and the bumper is f**ked up. But on the bright side it has a rebuilt TII motor with a new turbo. Now I have a '89 GXL in ammuculate condition but its an auto and N/A. How big of a job would it be to pull the entire drivetrain out of the TII and drop it into my '89? Also would it make much of a difference of I left the N/A motor in and just did the tranny back?

Yes you can mate the TII tranny back to the NA engine, you will have to use the NA starter and convert to 5 lug brakes.
With a buddy you can do it in about 10 hours or less if your fairly good with tools and Murphy doesn't mess with you to much, you will also have to follow the auto to manual tranny swap instructions here on the board, so you will also need an N/A CPU for a 5 speed
I am pretty sure this is all correct...
If you also move over the TII engine then your going to do ALOT of work... It will be a labor of love if you do it... I did the conversion... Most guys here will tell you its not worth it financially or time wise...
I thought it was worth it but I also love to turn a wrench
Use the search feature... there are tons of articles on what all is required to convert like you are considering and most of your questions will be answered there.
