driveshaft question....and yes its about the swap

driveshaft that i bought from slavage yard is a 87 Tii driveshaft to accomadate the Tii tranny I'll be using behing the JDM S5 13bt motor! well anyways i heard somebody tell me to just drill out the holes on the pinion flange of the differential to make up for the difference in the offset between the turbo driveshaft and NON TURBO differential!! ONE problem though, the hole at the end of the turbo shaft that keeps the shaft "HUB CENTRIC" isnt a deep enough hole for the pinion nut to recess in!!! any suggestions!?

Get a T2 diff and halfshafts lol Other than that I'm not quite sure. Talk to a machine shop they should be able to help you out.

so i guess you'll sell me a Tii diff and halfshafts dirt cheap? Also if i go that route than lets just swap out the ol' 4 lug to a 5 lug suspension!

Yes, go to the salvage yard and spend a whopping $150-250 for a used TII rear sub-frame (differential, halfshafts, rear brakes, wheel hubs, and rear suspension). You and a friend can just unbolt the whole thing and bolt it onto your car. There isn't much point in rigging the car to use the weaker NA components, especially if you plan on surpassing the stock torque levels.

Also, it is most likely that your used 20 year old driveshaft is binding or getting ready to bind. This is one item that you should have bought new.

If you really want to keep the diff then look at mazdatrix from what I remember they have T2 to NA driveshafts. Your going to have to spend money either way. Drilling holes isn't the greatest of ideas. At least for me it aint but hey your car.

I'm with evil aviator on this one. Go try to source a cheap rear subframe. The only other choice would be the MAzdatrix DS but I've never heard of the fitment issues brought up by ABCDEFb

swapping the diff and axles has NOTHING to do with the hubs or suspension. All FC axles fit inside all FC hubs. This isn't a solid axle where everything in the rear of the car gets swapped.

I'm using that till winter........i just wanna drive it this year lol......

taught me something new! thanx didnt know that! i idk what to really do from here......converting the JDM S5 turbo motor that i got to an US S4 turbo (or at least running off the S4 turbo electronics) and i just happened to be swapping this setup into a 87 NA 4 lug chassis! Mainly just because its all that i got and just want it to work and be on the road again. Does anybody know if i could just take some "meat" out of pinion yoke off the driveshaft. By this i mean making it a deeper hole allowing the pinoin hub to fully recess down in the yoke keeping the driveshaft "HUB CENTRIC". The bolt holes will then have to be drilled out on the pinion flange (cus it a NA diff and I am using Tii tranny) to keep the driveshaft from FLYIING off!
