I lost the nuts and bolts that connect the driveshaft flange to the differential on my 1986 NA Rx7 and was hoping somebody could give me some details, such as size, length and pitch. THanks.

 

same problem I have now with that, I loose mine too. No body knows???

 

you can just take the existing ones to any hardware store and match them up, its quite easy. I know they took a 14mm ratchet to get off, however i *think* they were M8. i dont know the specific pitch or length, but if i had to guess, course pitch and 1.5" long. Dont quote me on that tho. For other bolts, theres a master list in the 2nd gen archives. I scanned it real quick and didnt see the ones you were looking for tho

Ill go see if i have any on the spare NA diff I have sitting in the garage tomorrow. The ones that used to be on there are now on the turbo diff in the car, since it came without.

 

You could go to a mazda dealer and order them but the price was rediculous at 5$ for the bolt and 5$ for the nut.
Harware store is your best bet just make sure theyre high grade

 

I'm more interested in what kind of nut they used because I found one of the bolts, but don't want the thing falling off while iI'm driving. THanks for the help.

 

ill check the ones i have tues, i just pulled the drive shaft of my parts car.

 

I bought some header bolts about the same diameter and used good nuts and lock washers, it worked for hears. and i run drag strip with it every weekend.

 

They are the same size/type of bolts used to connect the axles to the differential pumpkin. They aren't just bolts they are made so that one part of the bolt is in the flange and cannot rotate while the other side is threaded for the nut.

 

Hm, okay. Anybody have the torque specs on those? Thanks.

 

if im not mistaken there are aslo square washers "weights" that go on with the bolts to the diff

 

Does anyone know the size/grade/pitch of these drive shaft bolts? I would like to avoid the $30-80 the norcal dealerships want to charge. Thanks!
