driveline swaps
driveline swaps
As any 'vert owner, my semi-long term goal is the T2 swap. I've started doing it slowly but surely. Last weekend was the rear-end. First off, what a pain in my A$$!!
I got it from a pretty reliable guy who I don't think would screw me, at least not hard. But I was surprised that it didn't make a noticable difference in my gearing. Is it in the rearend or in the tranny that makes the gearing different from my droptop and a T2?

It is most defintley in the gearing where you should see a difference. I assume you had 3.90 in it stock and switched it to 4:10 T2 gears right? well you should have seen atleast somewhat of a difference. I would have saved my beans and done 4:30 if you are going to go threw all that trouble. just my .02 cents. your transmission you will see a slight bit when you do the conversion. Just make sure you thinks things threw before you do it, that way you only have to do it once.

What year is your 'vert? ALL 1988 'verts had the 3.909, the rest of them had the 4:10 just like the TII if the car had a manual transmission. (The GEAR RATIO is the same as the TII... but the parts are NOT the same.)
I hope you swapped the entire rear subframe- it's by far the easiest way to do it.
