TX Drive Shaft Noise?

When I drive the car 5-10 miles an hour there is a loud clunking noise. My dad thinks it is a bad U-joint. I really don't know to be honest. It is getting worse everyday. I haven't had a chance to get underneath the car yet since I lack a lot of tools and equipment at the moment. Any advice is greatly appreciated Thanks in advance.

What made you think a loud clunking noise coming from under the car was the driveshaft?

That is what my dad said. I personally don't know what the problem is and would like to know what other things could cause this to happen. The Previous owner did some Transmission and Drive shaft changes and he might have not put it back correctly.

Ah. The easiest way to pinpoint a noise is to listen to where its coming from...I have taken my driveshaft out like 3 times and have never marked it and never had problems with it. Nor have I ever heard of an FC driveshaft going bad.

^It happens tho, my 91 FC's drive shaft shattered the yolk for the u-joint leaving school like 2 years ago. Luckily I was pulling out of the parking lot and not on the freeway. It didn't spin long but still had its fun on top of my Apexi exhaust and inside the drive shaft tunnel for a quick bit.

I would honestly have it checked out as soon as you can. At least go to a shop where they can get it on a lift if you are pushed for time or don't have the tools to jack it up yourself and put it on stands.

Will do. I just need to get her running 100% so I can have a working car. I have been riding my bike to work for about 3-4 months now.

I get a clunking noise at those speeds too. I have a s4 driveshaft in an s5 tranny i wounder if that makes a difference. also i wounder if my yolk will shatter due to it being a bit smaller then the s5s

I would get matching parts even if that isn't the problem.

That was just a suggestion. When I do my T2 conversion I plane on swap all the parts so it is a fully functioning T2.

Driveshafts do go bad on the FC

If you here a clunking noise or have bad vibrations at certain speeds it could be the driveshaft. I've had mine replaced and it fixed my problem as for them going bad on the FC it actaully is something that happens to some cars. My car had very bad vibrations once I went above 30 mph at the time I had around 150,000 miles, don't worry though it can be corrected at least it's not a rebuild of your engine!

I won't be doing the conversion until I have all the parts lined up. I have to fix the body and get her legal and running really good before anything happens I just got the car like a week ago.

The car is officially dead. I was doing the 60k Tune up and I was on the driving test portion when the Driveshaft decided to take a **** today. It was gonna go anyways I am just glad it didn't happen later on like on the freeway.

I am ISO of a T2 tranny,Engine, driveshaft, and rear end. I am doing the T2 Conversion ASAP.
