this would be a great platform to learn on. then go get yourself some nice coilovers(Tein HE's would be fine), and add power to your desire.

well, that should be more than enough. but really it just depends on what you want. I've seen videos of guys in japan drifting 500hp FCs, and also drifting 250hp FCs. its just driver preference. once you get better, you can start to add power, and if you like having more power, then keep adding. or you may find that it gets harder to control with more power. once you get better, you'll start to kinda figure out what YOU want to do with the car, rather than what someone else does, or what most people do. its really just up to you.

it's all in how much you can handle, obviously 500HP is going to be harder to control than 200HP is. a lower HP car is harder to break loose than a high HP car is though but tends to pull harder when catching traction and obviously gets up to and past fast enough speeds for a tight track.

200 hp is more than enough to drift with, you can learn on the stock car and then move your self forward as you grow in skill. The more you learn the more you can spend, you need to learn how to use the car and how it reacts to to sliding, The firts mod i would say would be get an lsd, then shocks and springs or coilovers if you wanna make that jump, but you dont need them to start, and if you dont need anything to radical then shocks adn springs are adequit. once you get those you'll wanna lower the car, this will give you better controll because youll have a lower center of gravity, and less body roll. you should also get some new sway bars, with adjustable links so you can adjust them to suit your your style. But when you lower your car you need to get the camber rod for the rear, so you can adjust camber in the rears, and some camber plates for the front, negative camber is good, but to much can be a problem, and can also ruin a good set of tires fast, youll just have to learn what suits you. This should give you a good place to get and learn to drift well. To bad that the rx7s suspension is non comparable to the 240 because you can deff adjust everything on them.
well i hope this helps and the best safety thing you need to know is to keep it on the track

my advice is to not even worry about the power, especially if your gettin a turbo II. power should be one of the last things u should focus on. for suspension if u got money get the tein he for around 1500$, or if your lucky you can find them used. if you dont wanna spend too much then get some stiff springs (tein S Tech are my favorite, thats wat i got on my car and they are very stiff). i have also heard good things about the apex springs. also u should probably get some good shox, adjustable ones. like kyb agx's. u can get the springs for around 200$ and racingbeat.com sells the kyb agx's for 106$ each for the rear, and a little more for the front. so like 500$ for shox. thats like half the price of the coilovers and almost as good. also sway bars help a lot.rear toe eliminators are only 40 bucks and i heard make a big difference, i ordered mine but they havnt came in yet. and another thing i havnt heard people mention is the tanabe underbrace. its only 90 bucks and will reduce drag when your trying to get sideways. hope my info helped.

Yea power isnt much of an issue for hobby drifting, ive gotten cars with around 100hp sideways, front wheel drive no less, with the handbrake. Without the handbrake i can get the rear to slide a bit on 90 degree turns using what i later learned is called a feint technique (go driftbible ) . I would just go with some shocls and springs now if i were you. Adjustables are cool but I personally dont find them necessary unless your goin to the track alot. Just get some kyb GR-2 and itsll stiffen them up better than stock and only coat you $200. EIbach make some good springs for good prices. i have a set for sale if your interested.

Please don't run out and try 'drifting' on the streets.
I'm not accusing you or anything... just preventing.
You need a big BIG empty parking lot... no light poles, no parking curbs... and try to find one as flat as possible, like no water gutters running through them.
Start practicing in an area where no matter WHAT direction your car goes in at 30mph you'll have room to stop. I'm serious... even if you think you'll start drifting right, which would take you away from whatever is on your left side.... there are things that can happen to send you flying straight in the other direction faster than you were going in the first place, you'll be surprised.
If you have someone experienced they can tell you what to do to start the drift, timing on the countersteer and everything... it's very un-intuitive unfortunately... so just be safe.
