whats the perfect drift turbo? i have a t3/t04e .50/.63 but im reading that the T3 is equivalent to stock hot side. Think i should step it all the way up to the t70?

Do you understand that nothing is "for" drift? Drifting is the purposful loss of traction to go through a specific type of turn on a coarse that, under normal "grip" type driving, would be a really slow corner like a 180* turn. IMO drifting as a stand alone activity is the stupidest thing i've heard of. As a part of complete racing on a track using all the various techniques used in "pro" racing its great.

Just ask any experienced turbo guy(read: not me) what turbo is going to be good for your specific setup to break the tires loose via power.

wow.. A drift turbo.. This is certaintly a new concept.

I would think that a drift turbo would be like any other turbo, a balance of spool and top end.

Either way, I drift on a BNR stage 4. So does that make it a drift turbo?

by "drift turbo " I mean what is the best setup, im not some noob with a superturbo booster button haha. i know all the basics behind it but im wonder what some people use in their own setups as in the perfect "drift turbo" min. lag and good power band with out loosing that much power up top the stock turbo sucks with second gear kicks because of the lack of power. basically im trying to eliminate the clutch kicking because of no power.

well, that depends on about a hundered factors.. Engine ported? EMS? Exhaust?..etc..

And I see nothing wrong with a clutch kick to initiate from time to time..

Oh wait... I do 3rd and 4th gear kicks..

stock for the time, except 3in exhaust.

i dont mind clutch kicking, its just annoying not to be able to occasionally power over.

i havent tried 3rd and fourth kicks yet because va beach is one of the top cities with the most police in it. and they are on just about every corner, im def gunna give them a try on the 15th the first event of va season

Well, for pure spool, the stocker is pretty good. You should be able to power over 2nd and third on a stocker. Just gotta do the fuel mods and up the boost. If you have the weight on your car shifted decently, you can unload the *** end a little and help the power over.

will try...thanks for the pointers

im waiting for my boost controller to get in then i will see what i can do with this stock turbo. what do you think of the t3/t04e? i figure it should be good because seems like there should be barely any lag thanks to the T3 side according to everyone on this site.

I was under the impression the T3 was a bit small, and would run out of breath. If your drifting, your car is going to be spending alot of time at or around the redline.

Man, I am not the final authority on turbos. Whatl I do know is, that unless you look at the ENTIRE picture, you cant really match your turbo to your car.

Now, back to watching videos of me drifting...

Run the stock unit (I'd go s5 if your car is already not s5) with some fuel mods, such as a safc, rtek 1.7, 720cc secondaries, and a walbro fuel pump. Then, stick all the cash you have laying around into suspension and what not if your really worried about drifting.

First, stop looking at that SSautochrone / Stone Racing / Master Power CRAP.
Cause that cheap *** "T70" is going to bite you in the ***.

Second, READ more and ask LESS questions.
The answers are out there on this forum, and searching is your friend.

Their is a guy in canada using the sschrome setup with the t70 and his wants to lay down 500rwhp with c16. I am hoping he does it because I have spoke to the guys at sschrome and they are always looking for feedback on there stuff to try and make it better. They already have taken the 2nd gen manifold off ebay because they are reworking the weld spots people complained about. Its companies like these that will help the community. Do you think you could get a larger name company to take anything off the shelf for better design?

I have the SS Autochrome catback and I love it. My cousin has the turbo manifold on his SR20DET and hasn't had any troubles with it. Good fitment and great welds.

The products we got were excellent. I've heard people complain about them, but they've never done me wrong.

I'm running the stock turbo and the car kicks out fine

Then again...it could be my suspension being way too stiff for street....

go to garrett turbos website and look up the disco potato. super quick spooling. i would think you would want a smaller quicker spooling turbo for drifting as your not sliding around at redline.alothough you hit it sometimes.

The problem is these bitches can't do any R&D themselves.
They take existing designs and COPY them.
They use cheap off-shore labor to keep prices down.
If you like supporting counterfeiters, then that's your karma.

Master Power used to have a website explaining that they were a Brazil firm that did authorized Garrett manufacturing.
Wow, I don't see that website anymore!
Garrett is known to do this, but it sounds like the turbos are being backdoored, cause none of the Garrett websites claim they have a factory in Brazil.

If you've ever priced out a real Garrett turbo, it's way more than what SSautochrome / Stone Racing / Master Power is asking for.
I smell a rat.

The "HKS replica" wastegates are CRAP.
The cheap *** WG's stick and blow motors.

I can't stand "companies" that do this kinda ****.
They are the bane to the companies that put hard work and R&D into their products.

Oh, and those supposedly good welds...
I dunno what they are using (possibly MIG SS?), but they have almost no penetration as a proper TIG weld does.
TIG is the best way to weld SS.
Look at the insides - you almost never see the penetration from the back side.

I'm not going to chastise all of you who want that cheap ****.
I realize that the temptation to buy economically priced products is a big temptation.
But, better do your homework before claiming how good these things are...
Cause they are all just conterfeiters with third world labor to keep prices down.
