There is also the safety issue in a collision. Decapitation anyone?

hey thanks!

dont you think if you got in an accident that it would just hit the widshiels, break it and then continue sliding upwards over the car instead of decapitating you...? but i never really thought of the safty issue(s) with it.

if youre concerned about the safety at all, would you really want to risk that? i haven't seen how people do it, so i couldnt really *guess* what the hood would do if impacted. but if i were to worry at all, i wouldnt want to guess that the hood would slide up the window, not through. i dont think the hood would move much as is, nor am i convinced this mod is worth anything.

the thingies i have are 2 1/4" thick plates with 4 holes in them, 2 of them tapped. basically the plate bolts up to the factory hood bolts, and then the other holes bolt up to the holes on the car side where the hood normally connects. think that would really cause a safety issue?

it supposedly draws more air through the engine bay kind of like how it gets really windy in the cabin if you open your windows and the sunroof. The air goes in and has a place to go out thus increasing airflow. No idea if this 'mod' actually increases airflow though.

There's nothing "drift style" about that. Why does everyone think if they've see a particular mod a a car that happened to be drifting, it must be "drift style"? This is a very old trick that smart people don't do, because it doesn't improve cooling and is potentially dangerous. Of course it sounds like this has nothing to do with cooling and you just want "the look"...

Er, no. In a collision, the whole front of the car moves back, not just the bonnet.

It looks like a ghetto attempt at a reverse-cowl type thing, but I doubt it does anything except make the car look even more broken then sleepy-eyes.

yeah it does look kinda broken...and i have them on my car and it looks just like that too. i'd take them off...but i'm lazy and the damn hood weighs like 55lbs and its a royal bitch to do alone. gottem free and figured i'd try them out and they stayed on afterwords. noticed absolutely no difference in anything with them on.

i said it was 'drift style' because thats what someone told me.

everyone doesnt have to get all antsy about this kinda stuff. its opinion. if i want to mod my car one way and you want to do it another way then thats cool. and if i want to leave it bone stock then same thing. i was just asking about it.
