Drift Crash Aftermath

umm...my car went into a ditch...its low...not much was damaged the framerail seemed to be the only thing damaged. Then I notice when one wheel was straight the other was bent inward some...you can hardly turn a corner with it...and I started it today...when I reved it, it only got up to 2,000rpm as like a maximum...I would floor it...it would hit 2,000 go back down, hit 2,000 go back down...is my car just scrap now?

Well you probably b0rked your control arms/suspension. Lift the car up and take the wheels off and inspect the damage. If you don't understand your suspension, or why the wheel won't turn, you DEFINATELY should not be drifting. Actually, you shouldn't be drifting on public roads either.

Not trying to troll... but there was a post on here not long ago about someone trying to drift and hitting a girl on the sidewalk.

Actually they did not say they were trying to drift. They did say they lost control in a turn and hit someone on the sidewalk though.

Please people.. keep it on the ******* track... or at least an empty parking lot in a remote location.

Oh yeah, and pics would really help this thread.

eh, ok I went to start it again...it ran fine, don't know what was up with that...anyway its a 1987 RX-7 N/A when it crashed, well..look

Crash Video

the front tires hit the curb...hard...the were at an angle at the time too I guess one hit the curb really hard and something got bent...the other is fine. Both wheels still turn when I turn the steering wheel...its just the left wheel is a bit off from the right wheel.

Came a little close to hitting that telephone pole man. You might have had worse issues to deal with then.

you probably have a bent tie rod or both are bent. the aluminum control arms are difficult to bend as they tend to just break rather than bend so i doubt there is any damage to them but the strut tower or strut itself may have been damaged or bent.

as for the engine, well, pull codes as it may just be in limp mode from the OMP or AFM connectors jarred loose or pulled out.

and yes, keep it on the damn track. enthusiasts are already paying for mistakes others have made in this state.

WOW. That was dumb. You even put your hazards on to let the other drivers know how dumb you are.
Congrats.

Good luck getting your car fixed.

that isnt that bad. check the gas tank area for problems with the fuel line and perhaps pump then check the entire suspension out. you got lucky, just dont be lazy and give the car a look over.

by the way, you probably would have been fine had you not tapped the brakes. even just pushing in the clutch would have likely helped you avoid the curb.

heh... lol you had it going good, till the end
but yeah, keep it on a track or deserted parkinglot... you tend to not go over too many cliffs that way lol sorry...

but wtf could possiably cause the car not to run, thats like my airbag is deployed and the car wont start...
have you check the damage on the underside? possible crimped fuel line? exaust?

Shouldn't have hit the brakes... That's the worst thing you can do when you're sideways...

Yea i agree here, if u just put in the clutch, let off the gas and just held the wheel the direction it was, u woulda kept sliding straight sideways and probably woulda been all good, cuz i dont think u woulda went of the edge sideways.

At least your OK, its all in the risks u take doing this kind of stuff, and its nice to see ur doing it in a remote location, cuz i sure as hell didnt even see a building never mind a car lol. Id be quite the hyprocrite if i told u not do drift in-town lol. Oh well i only got an N/A i cant drift very fast anyways.

i've explained in two previous posts (one i posted the day i got out of jail and as a result, i started getting threats) so i sorta stopped trying to explain. i wasn't driving like an idiot, i wasn't trying to drift and i wasn't trying to show off or anything stupid. I simply went too fast and lost control, aka lack of driver skill.
