Eh, you can lead 'em to water but you cant make 'em drink, I guess.

Enjoy pulling your dash and swapping main wiring harnesses, then trying to get it all back together without pinching any wires, breaking any plastic, or having rattles and creaks from the dash while driving. I could have an s4 na---> turbo swap completed and 2000 miles put on it by the time you get yours right. But, to each his own.

put down little piece of felt on any contact point on the dashboard and it won't be rattling

Rotaryresserection gets the award for installing a motor the fastest!!!!!!!

By any chance are you a Jehovas Witness????

I've done an S5 TII into an S4 chassis before... and trust me, the only way I could do the swap EASILLY, is with a standalone.

how did you set it up with the standalone

with megasquirt do you just leave the S4 ecu with the main harness plugged in ....and run the MS to the engine harness???
what about the OMP? ...i really don't want to switch the front cover and all that crap
can you control the OMP with a standalone

Sell the ecu and all that other wierd ****, and get a megasquirt n spark and use the stock main harness. It will work better than any upgraded factory ecu and should have no problem supporting those extra injectors.

And besides, why in the hell would you get an safc if you are glorifying this special ecu anyway?

Oh and if you an get the old engine out and the new one set into place within a day you probably shouldnt be considering this swap either.

that didn't answer any questions
if you use the MSnS do you leave the S4 ecu to run the main harness and the MSnS to run the actual engine functions
Can mega squirt control the oil metering pump
i don't want to switch the front covers and all that
that seems harder than splicin in the S4 main harness to the plug on the S5 ECU

i have where the main harness plugs into the ecu and everything that plugged into the engine and the battery and charging harness attached to the engine
and a complete engine harness the coil packs and wires for them
i've been studying the S5 wiring diagrams and ecu pin layout
i can't get the S4 one in the faq to work to compare

I was goin to leave everything from the main harness to the engine alone and try to just splice in the needed S4 wires

if i knew i didn't have to switch to the mechanical oil metering pump i would be leaning towards the megasquirt for now

I put in an s5 TII engine in my 88 vert. I used the same s4 harness and n/a ecu and it runs fine. The only changes I did was change the throttle body to an s4 tb and put s4 TII injectors as primary and GSL-SE as second's. Had this set up for 4 months now. I'm going MS1 w/MSNS_extra daughter board. Forget about the front dash harness. Do your breaking with the n/a ecu. You’re not going to be boosting for the next 1000 miles. Don't get me wrong you can run stock boost on the n/a ecu. Just try to keep it stock. In other words don't over do it. You can save up for the standalone meanwhile. You’re going to want to go standalone regardless.

I'd just use the S4 wiring, get a few S4 sensors, premix, and boogie down the road...

I see a unique money making opportunity here... maybe I should market an adaptor that allows one to plug and S5 turbo ECU into the S4 body harness. All you'd have to do is use an S5 emissions harness. It would be similar to the adaptors flaoting around that allow you to use the FD power FC with an S5 engine.

Seems like a majority of all the Jspec engines / front clips on ebay and elsewhere are S5 while most of the 2nd gen 7's running around the US are S4's.

Anyhoo - back to reality. I sincerely hope that isn't a jspec harness with your jspec engine. Thats just another can of worms to deal with. *I* didn't listen to anyone either when I used it for my turbo vert. I wanted to do it *MY* way too.

I hope your swap is a success, but I really think you should take some of their advice (Especially Kevin - "Rotary Resurrection"). Even though their advice isn't pleasing to you, they are trying to help you and you are pushing them away.

Nice engine... But yeah when I first got into my swap I wanted to put a S5 TII into my 86 base but after reading and asking around I'm glad the company I bought my engine from screwed up and gave me a S4 instead of a S5. Cuz from what I have read (countless hours. LOL) It is pretty hard to do ur swap and the cons outweigh the pros. So as of right now I have decided to just build my S4. And I'm using the N/A harness with my car. I'm actually saving for a standalone and I suggest u do the same. Rotary Ressurection really knows his stuff and u should listen (not to mention he also gives great deals on parts). I didn't want to rebuild my motor at first but I thought about it and was curious about the internals like if anything was done to it or anything. After pulling the engine apart a bit I learned my waterpump was bad (like really stuck and rusted) and after I started taking the engine apart completely and found it was blown. Alot of things happen when engines sit (like my water pump fins got rusted as hell). And since ur engine has an upgraded turbo aren't u the least bit curious about if ur internals were worked on too, I mean that has to play a part when tuning ur car, u have to know ur internals. Anyways I've found this forum to be really helpful and people to know their stuff (like rotary ressurection). But good luck though with ur project!!!

I am glad your confusion (and probably stress that usually goes along with confusion) is relieved. What makes you want to run Megasquirt over other systems?

First off $$$ lol...... my only goal for this summer is to get the motor in and running
just dropped $3500 for the car and motor....and still need other parts .....i definately plan on getting a standalone from one of the tech series....either haltech or microtech...i can sell the megasquirt when i go to upgrade ...but until then it will work fine
plus i've already done alot of research on the systems from when i was going to use it won my kl-zeT in my mx-3

4 extra fuel injectors

What does compression ratio have anything to do with an engine harness, Horsepwer, 3"DP, short throw shifter, Beefy Clutch, extra injectors, or Greddy intercooler piping? I looked into this and after 5 mins of debating I went standalone with a fresh harness. cleaned up my engine bay, and prevented me from using a 20 year old harness. I'd sell some of that crap you've bought and put the money into a standalone instead.

i was just talking about my situation
i could have bought a S4 TII engine but i bought a built up S5 engine with this instead for $500 more

im goin to make a new engine harness for my megasquirt and use that for a bit
with megasquirt the only thing i would be out is time you can sell it and get your money back outta it easily

and how many? i want to start getting everything i need to set the engine in the car
i've found the metal tranny cross member, and the actual rubber bushings
