I am doing this same swap this winter and after talking to Kevin (rotary resurection) I am doing the following

S5 T2 engine
S4 intake manifold and sensors
s4 T2 ECU (with like a couple small wire extensions I believe)
S5 turbo and header

I figure this will give me the best and easiest swapin for what I have to play with.

I am also going to do the dreaded T2 engine to N/A drivetrain for the time being then eventually change out the trans, shat, diff etc

I wish you good luck but to be honest that is the BEST way to do it.. that I know of

HAHAHA , your gonna run that setup WITH the OMP......
every engine i get, the 1st thing i do is remove this piece of crap.(dont forget the oil injectors.
and i hope you have all the rest of your emission system removed (ACV,EGR,Air pump, rat nest). take off the A/C too.

but i have to go with everyone else,
you should have listen to what RotaryRessurection said : " 8) The other way I would do this swap is to simply run the s5 engine with s4 electricals (tps/throttlebody/ecu/wiring/etc.)."
this guy knows is stuff and he just wants to help !!

how about you guys read the first post in this thread.....get this through all your little narrow minded heads.....I DON'T WANT TO RUN THIS ENGINE WITH S4 ELECTRONICS....THE ENGINE IS PRETTY MODIFIED...DO YOU THINK A S4 ECU COULD HANDLE THAT
As for knowing what i'm doin....i have an mx-3 with a klze with $500 dollars worth of performance parts that runs 13.7 @103mph never once been to a mechanic or worked on by anyone but me in the almost 3 years of me kickin its *** every day for over 75000kms...... anyone S4 guys feelin lucky????
like i said before i am goin to use megasquirt till i get the cash to get a microtec or haltech
that set up will work fine ....its not goin to be a daily driver, its "MY" project i've been wanting to do for a long time

Tell me again why this won't work with megasquirt.....because your friend had problems...i can assure you he's not the first person to have problems with performance parts
look at that guy from windsor with the white rx7 he runs 11's with megasquirt

i just got my jdm s5 engine
used a s4 turbo n332 stock ecu
s4 turbo, throttlebody, front cover, omp pump, turbodraink back tube, waterpump/housing/thermostat/casing
spliced two s4 na harness wires, i have the page saved on my laptop that tells you which wires to splice if you want it.

what was your question about the OMP again?
i dont wanna go back and read hahaha

i probably will just run a hybrid turbo, so safc2 i guess..

oh yeah, and a new lsd.

good luck with the swap, its a shitload of money

Ah ****, this comes back and rears it's ugly head once again.

How many months has it been now? I could have done 10 swaps *my way* and had 2000 miles each put on them by now. If it's so easy what is taking so long? :

Doing this sort of swap is like going out of your way and hauling *** to get to a "buy 1 for the price of 2, get 1 free" sale. You can accomplish the exact same thing anytime you want without the extra worry, and even if you do it your way, you haven't done anything special when all is said and done because the same results could have been obtained by easier means.

common.. dont give him so much ****...

you guys are just frustrating him....

i just used ebay... and it wasnt that bad at all...

if you wanna make it easier on yourself.. dont go premix.

just get the different waterpump, omp,tb, ecu, etc. etc.

hell i got an n332 for 80 bucks on ebay.
every other part was under 75 dollars.

except for the lsd or driveshaft.

PS. s4 turbo engines were alot harder to find for me then s5 turbo egines...hence why i actually did this type of project.

with that turbo its gonna be kinda sketchy though, hope you find something suitable

So let me get this straight...

Because you managed to put a millenia motor in an mx3 and it hasn't blown up yet (it is a bulletproof motor, a ground thumping 170hp v6) now you think you are automatically qualified to do an s4 NA to s5 turbo conversion with custom wiring and standalone, get it up and running and tuned yourself?

This oughtta be f**king entertaining. IN FOR UPDATES.

Do you think that after reading this thread I'm going to touch this car with a 10 foot poll?

I've done loads of Megasquirts on RX-7s. It can certainly be straightforward, but I would never recommend that someone attempt it as their first standalone install.

Only one phrase comes to mind when it comes to these cars.

"You gotta pay to play."

Perhaps. But regarding the 'Squirt, how much do you know about electronics?

Regardles the Megasquirt is a MUCH better choice then trying to make this all work with S5 electronics or a mismatch of S4/S5 parts. With the 'Squirt you will throw out the old stock harness in the trash where it belongs and build you own engine harness that is completely seperate from the body/front harness. This avoids all the issues with trying to make them connect. There are a few minor sensor differences but that's under the catagory of "little stuff".

Personally I've never, nor will I ever, recommend the Megasquirt as a first standalone experience. It's a true DIY ECU which means you must be familiar with electronics, software, wiring, tuning, etc. to bring it together. An "off the shelf" Megasquirt is useful in very few applications. To set it up for the rotary you must build a VR conditioning circuit (to use the stock CAS) and make a few modifications to the status LEDs to run the ignition system. It's not hard stuff but if you are unfamiliar with electronics there are a lot of ways to screw it up.

Doing this swap is some kiddie ****. He'll let you know how it turns out as soon as he gets done debating general relativity with Stephen Hawking and calculating Pi to the 50th decimal place, okay?
