Hey SonicRat, I'm not trying to hijack your thread but would a stock S5 Turbo running about 6-8psi be safe on stock N/A internals? I'm considering this setup because I found a S5 Turbo with injectors for $200 shipped and I'm gonna try to ****** it up. I'm not looking for big horsepower numbers (like 200-250 at the wheels) so I'm gonna try to keep it mild. Any suggestions?

the NA internals (ie, rotors and housings) are structurally probably just as strong as the turbo ones. just no one ever turbos the NA rotors cause of the high compression

My engine has 170K miles on it, completely stock N/A block with a s5 turbo. The intakes are ported along with the TB. Other than that, there's nothing different. 6psi I would say is about good for 220ish. The GTech showed us 210 when i was at 6psi with a slipping clutch (weight was pretty much spot on, so it's pretty close).

drivetrain damage seems to be another major concern when running a turbo N/A. I always wondered if having the transmission gearset, etc. and the rear end cryotreated would be a good idea to help out? I'm not sure if this has been brought up before, or if its that cost effective, but it was just an idea. Anywho, SonicRat, congratulations on your setup thus far, it looks like your making great progress!

All I need now is a big 'Home Depot Racing' sticker, since that's where most of the piping/etc came from.

We build friends engine (S4 TII irons, manifolds, ECU, injectors etc) with S4 NA rotors. Streetported, boosting up to 5psi now. Car feels good

Do you have any pics of your car? I'd like to see them if you do... especially the engine bay and your guage cluster arrangement as well.

That's a hella quick 1/8th mile time. Everything else has already been said. Lookin forward to seeing some numbers when you get all 1320 ft under boost.

His car is an n/a block with HIGH compression rotors, you have low compression rotors and 2 less ports in your TII block...

Don't the TII blocks have 6 ports? 4 open all the time and the extra 2 open up when im pushin it? Where can I buy high compression rotors? I only run 15 psi when I track my car, but yeah I'm using the stock turbo and the tmic. I only run it like that 1 time a week or less. My turbo gets a red tinge to it so I know I need a fmic really bad if I ever run it again. My turbo does put out the full 15psi pretty well though.

The TII blocks have 4 ports period. The N/A have 6, 4 open always and 2 open above ~4000rpm.

I see, how much of a difference you think it would make to switch to a n/a block?

That's what the z06 vette said before I beat him.

And yeah, my alt is missing, was borrowed to get my GXL running in the meantime. And yes, it is in the process of getting ready for a paint job, just had to repair quite a fair bit of damage from when it was rolled. It should be painted in the next month or so. It'll be lemans blue (bmw color) when it's finished. Don't forget my car also weighs a lot less. Just wait till I bolt the BNR hybrid to it, woohoo.
