"Downpipes" (NA)

As some may know i have a 2.5" midpipe and 3" catback and im fighting on whether or not to get a NA downpipe made. Will there be any real significant difference in the replacement of the 11 year old pipe from the manifold to the MP? or should i just save my 100 bux. Im probably gonna be NA till december since i got my hours cut to give an idea how long i'll have it.

What do u think?

Spend the extra 100 and get a header. I think youll be much happier performance-wise, although it will be alot louder. I dunno if 100 is worth it for just a downpipe.

well, if i go w/ a downpipe it'll be custom made by piper motorsports. They make good products.

I hear that headers on a car w/out a presilencer makes a nasty buzzing noise

Yes it will, itll sound awefull. This downpipe, it goes from the exhasut manifold to the Y-pipe?? I suppose $100 isnt a bad price for that, the gain should be noticable. Make sure it is high quality, cuz thin metal may still give you a "raspy" sound.

yeah, im sure you've heard of peter ferrall, well this guy was one of his best guys and left to start his own business which is also in manassas. He also has a new zealand accent

edit: from manifold to where the cat begins. I have a direct bolt in replacement pipe so when i need to put a cat in for safety or emissions all i have to do is unbolt 4 bolts, bolt the cat in, and im on my way.

downpipe for $100??? are you crazy? I got one custom made at a random exhaust shop for $35.
It gave my exhaust a deeper note and not too much louder than it was.

I just did a header on my n/a and the car really rips for a n/a. Before that I had a Bonez downpipe and it did make a significant difference b/c it eliminates a couple pre cats. But I wanted more power so now I have a Mindtrain header mid-pipe, converter, N1 set up. Works really well.
