Downpipe Q...

Does anybody out there wrap their downpipe with heat wrap? Is it really that good? I've searched but, could never find any definitive answers as to whether it helped power or cabin temps.

I was interested in doing this as well but most searches are related in header wraps. From what I've read wrapping headers results in premature cracking.

I did it to mine, I don't really care about hp gains yada yada all I care is getting my engine bay temps down thus getting my intake temps cooler thus further guarding me from detonation with excessive intake temps. But this is just me and I've been known to do dumb things

^ so you ditched the stock heatshields and wrapped the dp?

Notice any decrease in engine bay temps.

no as a matter of fact I am about to buy some new heatshields for my turbo because this does alot to reduce temps. I have the downpipe wrapped right now however havn't run my car yet but as soon as I do I will report the differances, if any.

Hurry up and get your car running so you can tell me how it goes! Did you use the tape wrap or did you use like a sleeve jacket?

I used the tape wrape stuff because I found a roll of like 50' for something rediculous like 15 bucks cause the guy ordered the stuff and wrecked his car so he didn't need it anymore. I'll get it going and let you know as soon as I do.

I heat wrapped my Downpipe for lower Engine bay Temps, and also to help prevent the loss of heat, thus energy, from the exaust gasses. When exaust gasses cool down they slow down, and that is bad.
