Thumbs up Double Turbo II engine swap project! Pics.

Hi guys. My friends and I just started two engine swaps on two t2's. I own a third gen but I am going to post because I know they won't. So I plan to document with photos the entire project. I hope you all enjoy!

A little history.....About this time last year, my friend blew his turboII (red). It has been doing nothing but sitting in his yard for this whole time until about a month ago. My other friend bought an all stock turboII about 4 monthes ago (black) and has been driving it sinse. The black car has only 70,000 miles on the clock and still runs really well. But it has alot of problems like broken sensors, the tranny is shot... It was just a pain in the a**. So, he decided to order a j-spec engine. When he made that decision, he also decided to sell the old engine that still runs well, to the friend with the blown engine. And that is where we find our selves today...

Last week we started the project by hauling the red car into the garage and started disassembling the engine bay. We got most of the stuff out in one night and we got the engine out about three nights ago. Once that was done, we started disassembling the black car. The engine is still in it but the tranny exhaust and all parts that had to come off are off. Now all that is left is the engine.

I will make sure to post pics of everything we have done thus far and everything that we do.

We'll be waiting Christian. We want to see how it is done so that we know what to do when we have to do it. :-)

Wow I would have never taken that stock motor out to swap for a potentially blown/dmamged/crappy j-spec.......

Ouch.

Good luck with the swap.. I bet the Red Car goes smooth as butter and the Black one makes you shoot yourselves...

I agree with Karack and RRTEC. Jspec motors are a gamble...

no...they will use the red car to run themselves over after they get so frustrated over the black car...

sorry guys. i havent had time to tkae pics or work on the cars in the past. few days. i was acctualy surprised to see this bumped back up to the second page.

i knew and my friend knew that a Jspec was a gamble but only time will tell. it will also probably turn out being the more modded of the two, and that surely will not add to the life of it. the red car before had a big street port on it so it will be wierd going back to nearly stock. i will get picutres up as soon as i get a chance guys.
