Hey, Im about to buy an 89TII transmission, and the guy says its been sitting around for about a year and there is a little oil in it, The tranny has 80k miles on it and i was wondering if transmissions are like engines and can go bad w/ dormant periods? what do you all think, should i go for it..

Only sitting for a year? I wouldn't worry about it unless it was outside under a snowpile or out in the rain.

 

Get some good synth in it right away - try to spin it by hand to get the oil into all the nooks an crannys before you go pounding on it with the engine.
