Door speakers S5 TII

Crutchfields says a 6.5" speaker will fit in the door. Is that right?

Max depth? What can I get away with (It does have power windows).

Was prob. gonna go with an Infinity Kappa component system.

Also, if you run component speakers...is there anypoint to the dash speakers?

They do need to be shallow, but if you are handy, some spacers will work in there to give a little more depth. Silicone each side of the spacer to keep from any rattling, and make sure you clear the windows when they are down(and wiggle the door back and forth a little to make sure they still won't bump it too).

the stock speakers are already on like 1" spacers. just reuse them.

and don't bother with the dash ones.

Sounds like a plan.

Would a four chan. amp say (50X4) be enough for the component system in the doors and 6.5" speakers in the shock tower?

I have 6.5 infinity kappa components for door speakers. I used the thick plastic spacer provided with the speakers to clear the window track.

It sounds crystal clear. I have 2 6.5" infinity kappa components in the front (comes with separate tweeters) and 2 6.5" 2 way infinity kappas in the rear. I also have a infinity basslink (self powered sub). My 4 speakers are wired to a rockford fosgate amp.

I got them at www.discountave.net I got all 4 speakers and the basslink for under $500 IIRC. Free shipping also I think but I had to pay tax since I am in CA. They got alot of other really good, cheap **** too.

Hum, I like that setup. What is the bass like with out your powered sub. I just want a good sounding system. Not thumping bass.

Bass just from the speakers is decent but not enough for me. It's not like the basslink will knock loud as a regular 8 or 10" sub but it is enough for me. I still like to hear my engine while driving. The full infinity system sounds great and I really recommend it if you are somewhat on a budget. By the way the deck is powered by a sony explod deck (I hate sony by the way but it came with my first car).

If you have the will and a little know-how and the speaker cut-outs in your upper doors, I'd highly recommend using them instead of the rear tower speakers. If you put much of any power to the towers, it screws the sound stage and puts it all behind you. I just recently cut out my door panels for the upper locations and put my two way 6.5's in there and it made a HUUUGE difference in sound quality. It brought back a great deal of missing midrange when most of my sound came from 5.25 three ways in the lower doors and sub box under the hatch. I don't even have the 6.5's amped. Good luck with whatever you try though. It sometimes takes some messing to really get things to sound the way you like them.

Adjusting gain on each set should keep you from drowning in bass. Soundsystems are just like racecars, they need fine tuning as well.
