my drivers door will not open using the inside or outside handle i used a slim jim and got it open and took off the door pannel, both handles still appear connected is there something else that could be causeing this problem? i dont know if its a common problem on these cars or not i know it is on some other cars like mustangs and 300ZXs anyway any help would be much apreciated.

When you have the door panel off watch the two metal poles when you lock and unlock the car from the inside and out. Then watch what happens when you pull the door handle up from outside and inside. They operate slightly differently but similar enough that you should be able to tell if one of the poles is bent to the point that it wont perform its job. I recently had and fixed that problem on my FC. I still haven't fixed the inside door lock but when I got the car all of the poles on the driver's side were so bent neither the inside or outside lock worked and neither inside or outside door handle would work.

 

The cheap-*** pot metal breaks all the time, right at the handle. You'll need to replace the unit, it cannot be fixed.
