door handle

ok so the last time i tried to tackle my broken door handle it owned me pretty good. I managed to remove everything but a single "invisible" nut. i was told it was in the back...well today i went to try and find it and was not able to feel for it cause my hands are too damn big . Can someone link a picture or a page of some manual that shows the position on this mystery nut plz

Also, someone mentioned that it would be a good idea to place a door openner alarm deal. The ones that when you press a button it automatically pops the door open so you wont have to use the door handle anymore...

anyone know any good brands out there ? thanks in advance.

What model car?
S4 and S5 differ- early cars apparently have three retaining nuts and later ones only two.
My only experience is with my '91 (which has two).
One nut is accessible with the window glass down and the other with the glass up.

Yeah, well good luck with that.
Both the Haynes and the FSM are a little light in that department.

Dude.. its not that hard.. Window up for one of them, window down for the other. There's a little plastic cap that allows accessibility to one of them and the other should be easy to get to.

The rest is just unclipping the linkages and wiring.

My 86 had two.... my 91 has two. I don't think there is three on any of them.

Mazdatrix sells two types... 86-88, and 89-91.. Both of the two cars I've had in either of those years didn't have three.

But if yours does, congrats and good luck.

I just checked the Haynes and you're right...they only show two.
Dunno how I got the impression there were three on the earlier models but I was definitely wrong. Unfortunately the forum won't allow editing of previous posts so my stupidity will be forever on display.
Mea culpa.

The sixties must be catching up to me.

i replaced the lock for mine (at which time i removed the handle) and it was pretty straight foreword, just get a long enough extension for your socket wrench and you should be fine.
