Door Handle

I just bought a 87' turbo 2 and neither the drivers side or the pass side door handles will open from the outside. Any thoughts on why?

from the handle to the spring mechanisms is an aluminum crecent shaped...thing.... it is probably snapped like the ones ive seen before that are broken.

Id say take off your door panel, undo the two rods that connect with clips, unscrew the two nuts, and pull out the handle, you will either see what I told you, or something else is messed up. Either way you will need to have some welding done or buy a new handle.

If that's your only problem - that's great!

Any local salvage yards have RX-7's?
Any 86-92 handle will fit.

Check the parts wanted/for sale forum.

Door handles are broken internally.
They need to be replaced.

Its funny, my friends was broken, so I pulled one at the junkyard for him, and it ended up being cracked, not broken, in the same spot. We installed it anyways, but it broke after 2 pulls. His friend is going to try to weld it, but if that doesnt work, time to start searching again...

good luck welding it. I was told from a mechanic that it can't be done. If you want a new one (I'd never buy a used one, since they're prone to breaking, anyway), they're about $125, unpainted, from the dealership.
