Cool. Im going factory setup for a little bit then as said before, I'll upgrade to standalone.

So Im assuming it's ok to run NA coil pack's with a TII Jspec motor? Is there any performance negatives when doing this?

As far as I know, the coil packs are the same whether they were turbo or not.

You will be fine.

^^^Great..one less thing to worry about.

Ok, so Im hitting my extremely determined phase and with that come's a bit of newb question's, so please..bear with me...I just want solid understanding of my prized car and the RX-7 in general.

I want to know from you guys how to complete the exhaust for my TII motor and what are the parts needed in sequential order, ending at the Y-pipe..the rest I can figure out myself. Cmon it's just the cannister's ( My newbness is not that bad ).

Remember, I still have all my NA exhaust stuff and dont want it in my head that I can use any of it, as a matter of fact, if anyone here need's something, just let me know.

Soooo....#1 where do I get a complete gasket set? and #2 what begins the TII exhaust, so far I've got " downpipe", what's else???

^^^Oh yeah, Im going dual exhaust, and actually still using the OEM cannisters.

Can I still run my NA Y-pipe?? Is it advisable??

Alright..Im back.

So in speaking with the homie DJmtsu, he explained all parts necessary for completing an exhaust set up. Why I couldnt figure this out myself?...well let's just say im hella nervous and quite impatient.

Anyhow, my next step is to get my downpipe. My boy Josh has one on deck. It's a 2.5" Bonez heat wrapped and he's even throwing in a midpipe. Loudness here we come!

I'll post a photo of what's being shipped. Im gathering my replacement motor mount's, tune up kit from Spooledupracing, possible silicone hose kit, and gasket set. Pictures soon to come!

At this point, my 13bt is not yet dropped in the car and Im still waiting to pick up my parts from JRX rotary that I needed originally. Dang....all this traveling and waiting makes my stomach ache.

My TB has a bent throttle linkage which Juni agreed to replace along with my thermostat cover, alternator, and hopefully I get my hands back on the (supposed to be equipped) power steering pump.

Quite a bit of work remaining and I havent yet tackled my exhaust situation. Any of you guys have suggestions on which exhaust to go with?? I need a complete set up if possible, minus the cannister's.

FINALLY!!!!! Got my parts from JRX rotary that Ive been waiting for. My purchased short block was missing some parts and I got the chance to scoop them up last nite from Juni's shop.

He gave me my Coolant neck, TB, and TII alternator. Tonite I replace these parts on teh motor and get a couple of steps closer to dropping it in. Maaannn this **** is tedious.

But its so worth it in the end. All this discussion plus helping my friend get his 6 port turbo GTUs running inspired me to actually drive my FC today. The dash was getting dusty.

^^wiring diagrams? Havent used any at all to be honest. I went all S5 on my car, so the engine wiring I purchased is " plug n play" as well as the ECU.

This forum is great BTW...connect with the right mbr's and you'll be good.

OK...so it looks like I wont be getting a camera for a while This suck's because it takes away from the visual value of my thread and I really wanted you guys to see my progress. I'll see what I can do...sure my bro can let me borrow his.

I think I took about 2 months for the swap and wiring, but I could only work on it on weekends. So maybe 6-7 days of leisurely work. I swapped a S4 T2 into S4 convertible. And I mean swapped - even swapped the subframes (easier to change over all the suspension bits that way, since what was on the 'vert was toast).

I think the biggest pain I had was figuring out wiring for the alternator - in the NA cars, it goes into the body harness. In the T2, it goes into the engine harness. IIRC what went to my alternator was the boost gauge wiring (the stock one) into the body harness - so no major loss; I like to use a NA cluster with an aftermarket boostometer.

Of course, my 147k mile motor chucked an apex seal a month after the install, so I got to do it all twice to pull and rebuild the motor.

In retrospect, I would only do this again on a car being built for the track, or another convertible. For a coupe it's worth the time to search for a clean T2 car, and swap interior/body bits/wheels etc if needed. The donor T2 I had (87 T2) was actually in really nice shape, and I would have just fixed it and kept it if I didn't have the convertible lying around.
