I just bought an 88 turbo II. It was not running when i got it. The guy i bought it from said the safc was not working so he took it off. He said it still ran in the stock configuration but with the larger injectors it would burn too rich and the spark plugs had fowled out. Well i fixed the safc then i cleaned the plugs but they weren't that dirty. I tried to start it and it didn't start. I have a good blue spark. I flooded the engine so i have fuel. Heres something weird as well, i tried pouring gas in the intake tube after the intercooler and it still didn't start. Then a little while after all of a sudden i heard a beeping, it was indicating that the door was open and the key was in the ignition. Well considering it wasn't doing that before i tried starting it and it popped but didn't start. I got it to pop again but haven't got it to start or pop again since. Any ideas?

I hate to put my own ideas out there, but i was thinking maybe bad gas. Only thing is the guy who sold it to me said it was running recently.

If it's been sitting, it could be bad fuel. Also replace the plugs. If they have fouled, they will not fire properly under compression.

Also try the standard unflooding using oil to bring compression back up. If that doesn't work, then try a push start with another vehicle.

If you have spark, fuel and compression it will start.

hah. i recently got a turbo II out of a field. it sat for like ten years or something terrible like that i was expecting to have to rebuilt it but before i even tried starting it i changed all the fluids, replaced the spark plugs which i found the wrong ones were in it and one was missing(idiots) and i replaced the battery. Before i changed the oil i noticed it was superrrrr flooded and after i changed the oil i flooded it several times and eventually i got it started but i believe one of my injectors is staying open when i shut it off so it keeps flooding itself. That probably wasnt very helpful to you. but needless to say aaron already answered most your questions... so, i would drain your gas, change your oil, replace your spark plugs and check your battery.

I put fresh gas in it ad it still didn't start. so i put some in the intake after the intercooler put the intercooler back on and it started right up with the good gas and stayed running. Turned it off after a minute or so and wouldnt start back up so i put some more gas down the intake and it started right up again but would not start back up on its own after i turned it off.
