Mine just started coming on in 5th gear today. It comes on and goes off. I don't think it should be a problem, but it is annoying. Does this happen to you?

Easiest just to remove the light bulb. Does anyone actually rely on that light to shift?

The switch is mounted on the transmission.
When the switch is ON, it tells the ECU to ignore trying to light the SHIFT UP light...duh.

How can I disable it without removing the light bulb?, is the switch necessary? What is the easy fix to get rid of this light all together?????

i had the same problem on my rodeo. the sensor connections from the clutch are either reversed or faulty. its annoying but doesnt affect anything. just make sure your reverse lights are'nt kicking on when you are driving. cops love that
