ive had 2 FCs, both smelled the exact same on the inside. a friend of mine has had 3 FCs, all of them had the same smell. i cant really describe the way it smells. its always just been the RX-7 smell to me. it doesnt smell bad or anything, i was just curious if all the other FCs had the same smell to them. i dunno, maybe the crack is getting to me.

 

When I run it hot 'something" come into the cabin area. Not oil or coolant but that engine smell if that makes sense. Otherwise all I smell is leather cleaner....

no, its not exhaust, i smell it when the car is off too. plus i know the smell of rich exhaust. so far every FC ive been in smells like it, stock or modded. 3rd gens dont do it, neither do 1st gens. its just in FCs.

 

Sell it to Calvein Kline, I'd buy a bottle!! The girlfriend would love it!

I have had 3 FC's and the all had a similar "smell" to them.
They also have all had worn out shifter bushing and torn or missing inner,middle and outer shifter boots. I just figured that it was just the smell of heated air and maybe a little exhaust coming in at the shifter.

 

yup my right hand smells like it on friday or saturday night when i get home.

 

Hmm been in 4 FCs and they all had a different smell.

 

ive got a 3rd Gen and my girlfriend says it smells like burnt marshmellows

 

The smell in my car, depends on what I eat.

 

It's probably "foofoo juice" from the car dealer...

Mine smells like leather and Issey Miyake (cologne).

 

86-88's definitely have a certain smell to them. I can't describe it, but it's definitely a good smell. I really can't vouch for 89-91's as I've only been in two S5 cars; one was smoked in and the other is my TII, which has the wonderful smell of leather.

My old Saab smelled just like my neighbor's Saab 900 Turbo along with my lil bro's friend's Turbo Saab.

**** ME! i thought I was the only person to notice that ****. Its just like the FC smell, hell yeah. Like if you get in an old VW Bug, and then get in another VW Bug, it'll smell the same, no matter how old the car is, its just that smell. Damn right man. Oh yeah, pass the crack back this way man.....

 

oh the percs of owning an rx7 but i have to tell you that smell doesnt make the dent in my wallet any less

 

haha, glad to see im not insane here, noticing weird smells in FCs. i figured it was for real though, cuz my friends girl could tell if he drove the FC by the way he smelled. its not as apparent in the 89+ cars, but both my 87 T2s have smelled the same way, as well as the other 87-88 T2s ive been in. i guess its just part of the rotary ownership experience.

I change the smell often when I drive.

 

My car smells like Azzaro cologne due to a leaking bottle I have In my Glove Department.

 

i know exactly what ure talking about. Ive been inside 3 or 4 series 4's and 5's. they all smell the same. even the one in the junkyard i was in smelled just like the one i drive everyday. its pretty crazy

 

the smell has actualy grown on me since i got into RX-7s. my previous car didnt really have a smell to it. but now whenever i get in my T2, i take a deep breath and i know im home.

 

I Thought I was the only one as well. It was stronger in my first fc. I really notice it when I haven't driven my 7 in a while. I love that smell.

 

Its old car smell....don't kid yourself. I personally hate it.....Its also a good thing that these cars always smell like exhaust. Every TII I've ever been in sames the same because they are all running no cats!! Exhaust pretty much smells universal...lolz

 

I also notice the smell. "Eu de Seven" by Mazda 3-5,000$ each.

Most the time I don't mind the smell... both my 87's have it. But sometimes.. for one reason or another, I think of it at Ewe de Seven.
