It flakes if you touch it and that should have been my first clue.
I installed the radiator and I was constantly getting leakage from the bottom hose. Well, it turns out after new hose and constantly tinkering with it that the paint was to fault. I sanded all the paint off the hose necks and anywhere rubber would touch and it seems to work well now. My advice is go ahead and get a CSF if you are money constrained but make sure to get all that black paint off wherever rubber hose comes into contact with the radiator. Save yourself days of messing with leaking hoses.
Mine never had any such problems. Still has all the paint

damaged performance parts suck, truly it does hurt but it is the owners time to bite the bullet.

i had to tell a customer his $450 koyo dual pass was junk because the water pump belt broke and the previous owner cooked not only the motor and water pump but also cooked the end seams right off the koyo dual pass...

would it be ethical for him to sell his radiator to someone else? nope, not even for a reduced price when all it is worth is $20 in aluminum at a scrap yard or a nice wall ornament.

Well, I was wrong.

My CSF copper radiator started having the same problem with the paint peeling and breaking the seal at the hoses. I just remembered this post.

The thing is, I need to change the coolant anyways and install my new temperature sensor. I'll be sanding the hose connections to bare metal with a lil' bit of emery cloth.

I still think the rad is a good, cheap replacement. It just needs a little install preparation with some sandpaper.

I want to know how you people find these threads. I have issues finding a thread that hasn't been posted in for 2 days, let alone months.

It might have had something to do with the search button being pressed and the fact that I had posted in here...
