I don't mind it at all really...at least most I'd spend a little and spruce a few things up a bit like the link above.

I dont really mind it. Yea its not as good as some of the newer cars, but its an 80s sports car. I think it looks fine. i wouldnt want to change it. As long as it stays clean and all your vents aren't broken it looks good.

When I first saw a FC, about three years ago, I didn't really think the car was that good looking, except for maybe the TII hood. (That was my opinion of my friend's 10th AE too!) Then after I started working with him on his car, and getting to crawl under it and learn the car in more ways than I probably wanted to, was the time I started to really love the car. The simplicity, IMO of being able to get my hands in many of the places to work on the car was impressive to me. It seemed that Mazda took a great deal of consideratioin into making the FC a reliable car, and one easy to perform maintainance and modification to. Anywho....enough of my rambling. Basically, I think the interior of the FC is AWESOME. I would't change a thing on it except the addition of a boost/AF gauge and possibly some racing seats to replace your seats if their beat. A really nice clean FC interior is one of the more agressive and impressive looking interiors I think I've seen in a 80's car, or even most newer cars, but maybe I'm just partial to FC's now since I've spent so many hours working with them, lol. Just my 2 cents on everyting.

Exactly, I love the Halloweenish theme the guages and stereo have going. The orange on black really looks cool at night.

my interior has been falling apart since i got it...i had to get a parts car to get all the broken pieces replaced. hey 500 bucks for a parts car might seem like alot but definitly is worth it. make sure when you get replacement interior parts (ie plastic parts) you put a protectant, that 303 stuff is pretty good if you can find it, on them so to prevent them from getting damaged/cracked again.

my interior was orgianally red/maroon but noe some of that has faded into a greyish kinda color on the carpet and a dark red/black on the dash, it wasnt well taken care of before i got it I got it, I imagine. So, i need to make a few improvements. Some may call it ricing, **** em...my interior looks like crap and needs workcraked pieces everywhere are getting harder to find in junkyards and they are never the same color, so eventually the interior is going to get a new color , new carpet and the seats are going to be replaced. The pics on here of interiors look awesome compared to mine, so call me a ricer if ya like but its getting updated...soon.

I actually like my first gen interior better than my TII's. I dont pay much attention to it though. Too busy trying to keep it on the road. Its a little faster than the 83 was.

think my s5 interior looks pretty good for a sports car. as long as it's in good shape. I would tend to say our interiors aren't that far out of date if you consider some other cars from that time period

Man, I picked up an '86 base model with a blown motor and with immaculate blue cloth interior FOR FREE!! Any I think it couldn't be designed better. Totally utilitarian, with no useless flair.

My "dated" 86 interior gets to me. There are holes in the seats, everthing is sun-faded and I'm missing most of the rear hatch pieces. So I'm going to update it! 90 GXL interior here I come

i like the old 80s look as well. as for the the brittle plastics, i guess we can't escape that unless we have lots of money to always buy replacements. i have really bad carpet...mine's gray so any stains that exist, you see it. the interior in my buddy's civic (95) was a little tacky. my friend's integra's (99) interior seem to envelop you, a little comfy. a friend's mr2 (91-95) was comfortable but seem to also bottle you in (nice seats in the turbo, sparco), both na and turbo versions (two friends with mr2s). my previous car's interior (92 civic dx--4dr) was comfortable by very boring.
for mine, i was lucky to spot a 89 GTUs at the junks with ok dash pieces. i have s5 dash components so no more broken surround. the s5 shifter and heavy shift **** looks like a short shifter in mine, like the picture above...mine is an 86 gxl. too bad i couldn't get the engine, tranny, and drivetrain from it..it was in immaculate condition (not many rx7 people in hometown, just my brother and i, from our side of town)...the junkyard dude crushed it before i had a chance to get them...and i told him to save it for me too..like a million times...i got my s5 rearlights for 22 bucks a pieces...and aluminum hood for 35 bucks...my brother's 90 gtu would have loved the GTUs tranny and drivetrain..since he needed both at the time.
anyway, like someone said above, i didn't "really" appreciate it until i tored my dash and replaced it with another (better condition) and tore apart their drivetrain (brother's s5) and yes...i love them for their simplicity. i also swapped in the 3 spoke steering wheel since i had the older 2 spoke stering wheel before. basically tore my car apart and put it back. when you understand your car inside and out (literally), you then realize the work mazda engineers put into making this car easy to work with while being functional, no bs. i just need to rebuild an engine and tranny then i don't need to bother any shops and waste my hard earned money. i can then start saving major dough.

Yeah... when I paint my car black sometime this year... I would love to swap the interior.

At first I didn't think it would be a big deal... then I though... oh ****: carpet, ALL the trim pieces (not that big of a deal) but **** like the roof material, etc etc.

I just hope a blue interior with black exterior don't look like ****

Even if it does... OH WELL, **** IT!

Doesn't bother me one bit but then again I have always driven trucks so any car interior seems nice to me.

I don't mind the interior...I like it for the most part.

I *DO* mind the ergonmics. They suck. The steering wheel covers all the buttons around the instrument cluster. And the small teeeny A/C-Heater controls suck ***. And the car dosen't seem to *fit* you like a glove...more like you're riding on top of it.

I also hate how crappy and cheap the plastic feels. And the orange on black for the instruments is hard to see during dusk/dawn.

My 88 Prelude is light years ahead of my RX7 in terms of interior quality and ergonomics. It fits like a "glove" and everything is visble and easy to see with easy reach.

Oh well...just another classic trait of an RX7 The 3rd gen RX7 perfected the ergonimics however...it dosen't fit like a "glove" You actually feel like you're part of the car!

Thats weird. My 1st gen and 2nd gen RX7, at least for me, has excellent ergonomics. Everything feels just right. My only complaint is the forward view is not as great in my FC. But I've been spoiled by sitting in an NSX cockpit (which was totally awesome.) I'm about 5'8 by the way with my legs being a little bit longer.

I also like my BMW 325e ergonomics but its totally different than my FC. I sit more straight up and it has good forward view. The interior looks more dated than my FC but the quality in the bimmer is amazing. Not a single crack in any of the interior pieces.
