I'm planing on getting a steering wheel, but i don't know which size to get. The stock size seems fine for me so i'd like to stick with the same size as it is.
Also can neone tell me the difference between a $40 steering wheel and one that is $120???

Brand, materials, looks, construction, feel, durability, and safety?

Don't cheap out on a steering wheel. It is THE most important thing in your interior (besides the brake pedal of course :p).

If you're fine with the stock size, why get a new steering wheel? They're all a little bit smaller than the stock one, which is a good thing.

I'd suggest a 350 MM wheel...

On a $40 wheel you can bend it in half with your bare hands...

My stock steering wheel is all torn up and the horn doesn't work. A few NRG steering wheels on ebay have caught my eye so i might jus pursue one of those.

imo the acc cable/pedal is as important. especially on 18+ yr old cars.... if it sticks, or if something happens it can be very bad....the brake pedal itself is pretty useless, id be more worried about the brake system and the e-brake... for safety purposes, agreed though, the steering wheel is thus as important....

stock is 380mm

most aftermarket ones are either 350mm or 320mm, although ive got an o.g. mazdaspeed thats 360mm.

350-360mm i find to be perfect, i also like a little dish or a small spacer, otherwise the wheel is too close to the turn signals and cruise stalks

If the accelerator sticks, you put it in neutral and shut the engine off.

If your steering or brakes fail, you're SCREWED.

I'd go with Mazdaspeed. Very similar to the stock one, and I love it.

Here's the problem...
The stock steering wheel size is 380mm, which is uncommon but not impossible to find.
MOMO makes one or two that are that size.
The big problem is that the stock steering wheel is 2mm offset upwards.
That's right - it's not centered.
I think they did it to get some leg clearance and to get better view of the largish instrument cluster.

Well, I THINK taking 30 mm off the steering wheel will work a bit better for leg clearance than a 2 mm offset

Whether or not they'll be able to see the instrument cluster depends on their height, seat height, and sitting position...
