Does anyone offer a custom fit sub box for our cars?

I wanted to toss in a couple of small 10's, maybe even just one, for a bit of bass in my trunk. Does any company offer a custom fitted box, such as the Q logic ones? I could've sworn i've seen a couple on here and I was just wondering where they got the boxes, or if they were custom made.

what do you think they sound like, blasting against the glass? I like them too, just curious about sound quality...

when the speakers are facing up it takes away from the sound. I have mine up, when I face them towards the back they get alot louder I can tell a HUGE change.

I made a custom box for where the spare went.. I do need to get around to finding closer color matched carpet, though. It sounds great!

If you learn how to fiberglass anything is possible. If you pay a shop to fiberglass, it will get really expensive. However all the materials needed for fiberglassing is cheap. You can go to your local Home Depot and get everything you need now....

they look good but fiberglass sub boxes dont give a good sound, if yout gonna do something dont use fiberglass, unless its around another inclosure

Um... there's the picture up there Other than that, there's not too much to show, it's a square box, made in a slight wedge shape, so I could angle it down and then pound it into place, I can't take it out for pics as that box will never be extracted as one piece. Apparently my car was in a very slight rear end collision at some point, cause the back wall was slightly bent inwards, which is why I angled my box, so it would wedge in there. Very snug. The bars are from an old audiobahn box that the 10" sub came in.

I love fiberglass, but DiverseCC is right, it just doesn't give the best sound. I'm making a box for my miata out of glass, but that's mostly cause I have no choice, since I need a unique shape. I'm hoping to counter the bad acoustics and audio loss by going rather thick in every area I can get away with. the box for my 7 is solid wood though, "the only way to fly"

p4nc7 - Do you mean any other easily formable materials? The only things I can think of are glass and carbon fiber. Both will give the same acoustic output, which is to say, rather poor.

I made one for the Vert. It fits in the dead space behind the drivers seat and under the spair tire. It will hold 1 10 in. I know my glass skills are lame but it is my first attempt at working with fiberglass. It hits hard though so I am happy

Not too shabby for your first go If it were a bit thicker, and exposed, you could break out the sander, smooth it up, putty the gouges, and paint it like any other plastic. but since it's hidden, and it probably gets the job done, kudos!

edit: I just noticed that you're only holding your sub in with caulking. I'm sure you know this is a less-than-perfect Idea. what most people do with glass is to cut a ring out of wood, then mount that behind the glass, so you're screwing into the wood for the sub. Just an FYI. It'll be a good thing to do for the next revision

medium density fiber board is my favorite for making sub boxes, but you gotta make sure the air capacity in side of the box is a certain amount depending on the subwoofer and make sure to seal everything, you want it air tight
im kinda picky though

well for my **** i just got a narrow Qlogic sub box that fit damn well in the trunk of my vert, which you may think you cant feel it but you really can. i took pictures of my install and posted them on yahoo pictures. it take a bit of trunk space away from me, but ****, i knew what i was getting into when i got a vert, no space for anything anyways

incase any wireing freaks are wondering, all the wires have been cleaned up and covered in a flex tube and ziptied to the body, there are no exposing wires, and i have double fused that big power wire, one at the battery which is mounted to the body and one at the box

umm and for reference your should be aim your subs up or to the back of the boot, it basically genererates a bass loading effect, will sound better and get better louder base.

For spl I was getting best results aiming into the far back corners of the glass, but if you only using 10" Im assuming your not planning a system around spl.

I prefer aiming towards the middle rear of the car from the side, not top of the car. Hiding the subs behind a carpet covered box is added security.

Also you don't want 500lbs of subs & amps at the far back, the closer to the center & bottom of the car, the better.

I have one made out of MDF in my vert, it all fits under the spare tire cover and I am using a spare from a coupe in the trunk. It took me a long time to get everything to fit right, but I only have about 20 bucks worth of material in it. It is all MDF and one piece of 3/4 round ceeling trim. The carpet that I covered it all with is 2 trunk mats out of Dodge Stratus' which I picked up at the local junk yard and then peeled the insulation off of the back so I could form it easier.
