Question Does Anyone Know Where I Can Buy A Nelson Supercharcharger Kit??

I am looking into buying a new nelson supercharger kit but I cant seem to find a site that sells them. I was told that they may have stopped making them. Is this true?? And where can I find one?? Or.. Who has one for sale???

They have not been produced for several years. Your only hope is to find one at the back of some warehouse somewhere, or someone selling one used.

This kit had several problems though. The mounting bracket would crack (fixed in later versions) and the blower would overspin at redline (need a larger pully).

I know you said you are loiking for a Nelson...but just in case you are not aware - Atkins has a S/C kit for the FC currently available. Look them up.

The Atkins kit requires a carb conversion.

I don't beleice the atkins kit MUST have a carb setup. You could use the four barrel adapter from tweakit on it couldn't you?

Of course it doesn't need it. You could run an aftermarket EFI system with the approprite throttle body. But the kit is designed to run a Holley carb.

They have said that for the last year now

well, has anyone heard anything good about the aftermarket turbo kit sold on www.hardcore-performance.com/tmazda.asp??? I mean i know what the site says but you can never trust a companie's advertisements. Has anyone had any good luck with them??

As far as I know, no one has ever bought that kit. Also, their description of their "testing" procedure is suspect...

so basically, I am probably better off just doing an N/A turbo swap?? Anybody have any good suggestions for places to buy the engine and transmission from? What about the rear diff? I have heard that you can use the automatic driveshaft to mount up, but how safe is that and is it really recommended?

you dont have to do the n/a to turbo swap... the atkins supercharger is supposedly almost done, but who knows when it actually will be... but then the guys over at fc3s.org are making a turbo kit currently for n/a's, looks like its gonna be a really cool kit, not eta on when its going to be done though

it just seems like the kits that have been made were stopped for some reason and everyone continues to pot for the TII conversion... So, I figure there has to be a reason. As for the Atkins supercharger, I have also been hearing that for quite a while. Maybe I will give them a call and see what is up out of curiosity??

Thats not a bad idea...the SC is a great option for people who don't wanna do a TII swap or custom turbo install. I don't know why there aren't many kits out there . There has to be a reason...

I wouldnt say cheap, I would just say that most people that have one want performance that is reliable. If these supercharger kits keep busting, then why would someone want to buy a kit that is in the shop more than its running???

The Atkins/Camden(?) kit requires you to change to CARBS.  This requires a carb (is it included?), and then convert your fuel system to run carb fuel pressures.  If anything, you need a carb fuel pump and a carb FPR - sure, they are not pricey, but it's still added costs.

You got to be kidding if you're going to pass smog - no way in Cali.

well i was thinking about how turbos and superchargers dont kick in until a certain rpm, so when doing the idle test theres no worries and then if the cruise is in a range before the s/c has started then there should be no problem, right?

It will not pass a visual test, which all Cali smog should do.

ah ok i gotcha... good thing WA has no visual

i dont plan on going the s/c route, however, im hoping to get the turbo kit fc3s.org is producing

I think i am just gonna do the TII swap. I have found some good deal on engines and you can get more horsepower out of them anyway.... Thanks again guys!!
