does anyone have aftermarket steering wheels?

Hey all

i was online and looking at some steering wheels and i measured my wheel showing its 380mm in dia. what should be the smallest whell to go with? to me a 300mm just seemed kinda small, but what is the best size wheel?

I wouldn't recommend anything under 350mm for manual steering.
With power steering, you can go slightly smaller, down to a 320mm if you like.

I do run a 350mm MOMO Race myself.

Grant makes some decent and more affordable wheels. I have one. If you want one of those take a look a Ebay for substantial discount.

i run a 350mm Sparco Lap 5

you wont' want to go lower on manual. I run 245's up front on a manual rack and it's fine.

Pretty much anything smaller than stock will partially block the gauges. The smaller the wheel, the worse it is. Keep than in mind when choosing...

I run the Momo Club 4, it's 365mm works great for me and I don't notice any gauge blocking at all since it's not too much smaller than stock.

That's what steering wheel spacers are for.
Unless you're like 5'10" or taller, it won't affect shorter people.

I'm 6'6" in a vert, I need a smaller wheel! Haha. I have a GT wheel that the previous owner gave me, but I'm not sure if it's that much smaller. The stock wheel kinda gets in the way of my left leg while I shift, so left turns and shifting = problematic.

Yeah, you need a Momo hub adaptor. The Momo wheels are great. I'm thinking of getting a 350mm Momo Competition. 330mm is too small for my tastes.

It's hella lot better than stock!
The only problem was that with just the MOMO adapter, it sat too close to the instrument cluster, and hitting the turn signal and cruise control levers accidently was just darn too easy.
Also, I couldn't see the very top of the instrument cluster, so I couldn't see the turn signals. :P
I fixed all of that when I got a custom made 1.5" spacer to push the steering wheel toward me.
I'm 6'1", and now everything is perfect.

Er, no it's not... My Momo wheel is 30mm smaller (OD) than stock and has a thicker rim, plus I'm 6'1", so it partially blocks the speedo, tacho and oil pressure gauge. Moving the wheel closer to me won't help that.

It's so much nicer to use than the stock wheel that I'm prepared to live with this annoyance. But if you're tall I would seriously recommend against using anything smaller than 350mm.

350 mm Momo & at the angle I have it some of the Gauge area is blocked, but if any higher, feels like steering a bus.

Dude, I can't believe you said that.
Have you tried it?
I doubt you did.
I'm not going to get into a complex mathematical geometry rant just to prove this, but if you sit in your car long enough and stare at it, you'll figure it out.

Um, what? Simple geometry shows spacing the wheel back will make the problem worse, not better.

Gotta back Ted up on this one, I made a prototype spacer out of wood and it solved all my dash gauge vision problems. Now if I could only figure out how to easily make one out of something stronger...

Oh and the average height for an American male is 5'10-11".
