The slave cylinder should be located at or near the top of the bell housing of the trans. I have never had the T2 apart but I did replace the trans in my 85 GSL-SE a year and a half ago. It should be about the same setup. Look for the bleeder for the hydraulic clutch. The slave is right there.

It should be an INCREDIBLY easy fix, it's very accessible. Basically stand on the drivers side of the engine compartment and look into the engine bay. Look at the brake booster (BIG black thing in the engine bay in front of where the driver sits, you can't miss it). Then look down at where the engine and tranny meet, it should be about even with the brake booster. You should see a little cylinder on the transmisison side with a heavy-duty rubber line going to it. That is the clutch slave cylinder. Now to make sure you're looking at the right thing, have a friend go inside and hit the clutch, you should see it move. If not, then you're not looking at the slave cylinder.
I might have a few ones sitting around from a 1st gen, but not 100% sure if they'll match up, I don't see why they wouldn't though.

Man get a rebuild kit for like 4 bucks parts store 10 bucks from mazda and rebuild it takes 20 minutes to take out slave cylinder and rebuild it and 5 to put it back in. OH yeah get a U-joint for your wrench set use that and an extension atleast 6inches long and you will have that thing out with the quickness. - Gabe Medo
