Does an 88 vert have headlight relays?

Does an 88 vert have headlight relays? I've looked in the engine compartment but can't find one. Driver's side works fine, but no relay or connector for a relay. My passenger side light was going non-stop up and down. I played around with it and now it will come up when it's down, but won't go back down on its own. I see a six prong white harness (with only five contacts) with nothing connected to it. I tried to hook up a 2 different relays from 2 headlight motors. Relay fits perfectly into the connector, but doesn't help. I hooked up the 2 other motors, but does the same thing. I pulled the CPU to see if it was theft protection, didn't work. Does anyone have a clue what's going on here?

I don't think 88's have headlight RETRACT relays. Pretty sure they don't. The 1986 and some 1987 do.

I think the 88 and the rest have the relay inside the headlight unit itself.

The early 86-87 had the retract relays as shown in the attached jpg.

Anyway, those cars that did have retract relays had but four wires in 'em. I'd bet ten bucks your 88 never came with them.

I'd play a bit with the adjustment **** below the headlight assy to see if that helps. Maybe turn the **** one way or the other a few turns and see what happens.

I don't have those relays behind the lights on my '88.

The ones in the engine compartment, drivers side strut? Checked those, they are all ok. Anywhere else I should check?

try jumping power straight to the retractors from the battery

I will try that next. Too hot outside right now (100 degrees). I'll wait until it cools down.

Power is getting to it. Right? It goes either up or down according to what you wrote. Try turning the **** on the bottom of the headlight assy to see if you can make it work right. Also make sure the headlight assy isn't BINDING against *something*, like the surrounding metal. Does sound a bit like the internal relay though.

Power is getting to it. If I return it to the down position, it always goes back up. Doesn't seem to be binding at all. Doesn't make any weird noises going up. I use the manual **** to return the light to the closed position. Goes down smoothly.

maybe an electrical short to ground and thats why it always comes up, usually the switches are on the ground side. Put them down , then unplug the switch , then turn on the ignition see what happens

Are you saying that I should unplug the headlight switch?

I found something new. When I turn the lights on, the headlight in question goes up, but not all the way. It's very close to the top, but not all the way. So I had the headlights off, but the passenger side headlight was in the up position. I used the manual **** and raised the light all the way up, and as soon as I hit the top, the headlight motor activated and dropped the headlight all the way down, then back up almost to the top again and stopped.
